Never judge a book by its cover....

Post by Rapunzel »

Last night was the first episode in the new series of Britains Got Talent. One of the contestants walked on stage and said she wanted to be a singer like Elaine Paige. Everyone raised their eyebrows and sniggered to see this grey-haired, frumpy, middle-aged woman with thick bushy eyebrows daring to have such big dreams, but My God, when she started to sing she just blew everyones socks off! Listen to this amazing and fabulous woman. She says she's never been kissed, never even had a boyfriend but when she's rich and famous she'll be swatting them away like flies! Good luck and God Bless you Susan, you were AMAZING!!

Here's what her local paper, The Scotsman, has to say:

SHE lives alone with her ten-year-old cat, has never been kissed, and is teased by children in the street. But 48-year-old Susan Boyle could just be the UK's next singing sensation.

Devout Catholic Miss Boyle has been at the centre of a media storm since news emerged of how she wowed Britain's Got Talent judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan with her amazing opera voice.

She has now been tipped to win the hit show and the chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance later this year.

Speaking to the Evening News from her home in Blackburn, West Lothian, Miss Boyle – who freely says has "never even been kissed" – insisted she was unfazed by the attention.

Talented Susan looks to have the last laugh - Scotsman.com News

The second clip includes an interview and the judges stunned comments.

I agree, she IS awesome. But some are so bad, they're funny.

I was amused to see Amanda Holden 'phoning Gwyneth the witch to ask her to lift her curse! :wah:

Thank you Rap....That was absolutely beautiful, and I want to listen to her sing over and over again.

It's funny how some people snear and giggle because of your looks. They think that you're not worth "getting to know or talented." Such a shame. We miss out when we act like that, don't we?

Do you mean Paul Potts? And yeah, I totally agree with you Jimbo. :) It's much better getting to know who people are rather than just judging them on their appearance.

The point is this type of thing is happening all the time behind the scenes.Very talented people with talent that takes your breath away but because they "dont look right" they get pushed aside. Its heartbreaking its wrong but society is to blame.Last night on Britains Got Talent was a fine example of people laughing at a person who had more talent than the so called artists at the top today but she didnt "look right"so how could she have talent......God it makes me sick.Ive experienced it and ive seen it first hand over the years and because of this dear lady it may make people think twice when they see somebody who hasn't got a figure to die for....who may not fit the so called way a celeb should look....let them remember that behind the mask is a human and one that like Susan Boyle could blow your mind.I hope this lady has her dreams come true and she may have never found love in her life with a certain person but now the nation has taken her to their hearts and given her the love she has never known.Good luck Susan we are all behind you;):-4

you hit that one on the nail........Mike has long hair, he used to be continually pulled over by cops....for nothing......he has never ever hurt a fly, no speeding tickets, no wrongful withdoings ever.

one day he got fed up........cop was behind him with his lights on, so Mike pulled over and stopped.......Mike got out of the car and went up to the cop, which is a HUGE no-no............he just yelled, wtf is wrong with you people? I saw you tailing me for 5 minutes, I knew you were going to pull me over! You guys do this to me all the time!............just because my hair is long?

cop apologized immediately....as he had of course already ran his plates.

he has not been stopped again.

I just found this too... :-6

Susan's first recording back in 1999, when she sang blues ballad Cry Me A River for a charity CD.

YouTube - Susan Boyle - Cry Me A River Charity CD

If this was recorded 10 yrs ago all those talentscouts must have been sleeping not to take up on this. Now 10 yrs later they will smash their heads against the wall for having been so dumb. i am sure all producers are after her now. Good luck for her.

WOW!

Can't watch the programme - way over my cringe level - but this (and Paul Potts), well, just WOW!

I think I'd have Paul just a little ahead because Susan seemed just a tiny bit strained on some of the high notes, but even so, that's fantastic.

LOL! I agree, a lot of it IS cringeworthy and we laugh our sox off at just how dreadful some of it is. I think thats why so many people were shocked and amazed by Susan Boyle, because you automatically (and unfairly, but then we're only human) expected a farce and instead witnessed near perfection!

However, it's also interesting to watch the interviews, to see what people hope and dream for and to see their reactions when they pass or fail.

On a personal note, the kids at school watch ALL of these type of talent shows, it gives them courage to put on regular talent shows of their own at school and if you watch them too and can talk to the kids about them, then you are one cool dude in their eyes. :wah:

We just watched her today (yeah slow eh) goodness that first note of hers made the hair on my arms stand up.

I hope they keep her around and everybody gets a big fat wake up call about beauty. YOU GO GIRL!!!!

But I do understand the beauty issue. One of my fave persons on the planet is a biker and hanging with him gets us quite the looks. He looks fierce but has a heart of gold.

She's unemployed-forget all the stories about people living well on the dole they don't. A hairdo has probably been a luxury she couldn't afford until now. Blackburn really really really is a dump you know. She had the nerve and ability to stand up there and do what she did-I think you'll find she is far from being a simpleton that will be taken advantage of . She has-in the local parlance a face like the back of bus and the voice of an angel.

I'll bring Susan up on youtube and watch her 2-3 times - amazing

she makes my hair stand straight up - her voice hit all high notes..

I then tear up / cry. she's so very cute when Simon says

"Hold your head high when you go back to your Village - it's 3 yes ssssss"

My girlfriend hadn't seen it - the other night we watch her @ 6 times at least

we cried...

I told her - see can't judge a book by it's cover - definate message

I also told her - you owe me a box of kleenex:wah:

Susan made a CD in 1999 - title: Cry Me a River

since her audition - her brows are thinner - she wearing brighter clothing - other than that, she still Susan...

I love watching her..

I agree....dancers of all types have impressed me more than the singers.
