I need a little favour please..

Ok ... normally this doesn't get to me but I really need to ask this time round.

As some of you will know, I have arthritis in my spine and for the past 2 years I've been having epidurals to help ease the pain. Whilst they are an absolute blessing, the injections hurt like hell. I'm having another one this Friday morning and I don't mind telling you all that I'm scared stiff.

So here's the thing ... I'd really appreciate some positive thoughts, prayers, beams ... whatever you've got on Friday morning please:)

I've had some nasty's also and they have probably already told you this but try to concentrate on your breathing. Count as your breathing in and out and try to concentrate on the counting.

I just now read your thread, pinkchick. Maybe you can "zone out' during needle time. Think of all of us, your friends, who do care about you. Think of some music that you like. Think of the most beautiful place in the world.........and you're there.

I agree. Would it help if you were able to relax more sweetie? I had epidurals when I delivered each of my kids and I just remember it as being bliss, a lovely cold tingle down your spine and then peace as all the pain just disappears....

Is it like having a smear where if you're tensed it hurts like hell but if you relax (hard though that is!) then it's not too bad? Or like being at the dentists? Worth the pain of the moment to get rid of the long term pain. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope this time things aren't so bad for you. Warm Hugs. :yh_hugs :yh_hugs

My thoughts are with you pinkchick, just think of the relief you will get afterwards, I know a little of what you are going through as I have injection in the facet joints in my back every 6 months, but it is worth it to be pain free afterwards. Good look and take care:-6

My goodness! Where do I even start to thank you all for your love and support? You all are wonderful :-4:-4 I've just read all your comments and I had to read them again because I couldn't see through the tears!

Today was ok ... painful but as so many of you have said, the result will be so worth it. I'll be grand in a few days

So for now I'm propped up with lots of pillows in bed. My flatmate is looking after me very well bless her. She's supplying me with endless cups of tea/coffee and lots of chocolate

Erm... never, but... I have had a spinal tap, which is considered to be one of the most painful procedures you can have done. :p

Not to brag, but... :wah: wanna' hear in gruesome detail about all of the tests I had done last week? :p I'll just say that I was a human pincushion... and I abhore needles! :wah:
