I think his teachers told him what he wanted to hear just to have a little peace. Now I'm cleaning up the mess. BUT, standard active listening and empathy has him focused on a 6-week plan that puts full responsibility in his hands. Working with him earned respect for me from the other students as well.
That, combined with a smaller class than I expected leaves me enough energy to take on the rest of the chaos that the first of the year brings. I'm a happy man! :-6

I got the girl who had 4 teachers sent away for awhile last year. She has a personal assistant this year. *yikes, I have her twice too* But she has done her work all week long in my classes, so I am hoping she has matured over the summer. It was a good week for me too.
Well, my angry guy got busted for pot and sent to alternative school for awhile. He's back. He's worse. C'est l'école I guess.

When brushing your main focus must be on your teeth. You can't really see what you're doing, so your eyes will just distract you. Closing your eyes and concentrating will reduce cavities.
9 out of ten dentists recommend it.

Why did the pharaohs build pyramids instead of, say, cones or cubes?

Cones obviously would have been impractical, since ice cream hadn't been invented yet.
Legend is that the pyramid builders used to build cubes, then one genius architect turned it on one corner. Others tried to copy but couldn't figure the calculations for balancing it on that one corner; plus it kept sinking into the sand. Eventually they built them with half underground (the world's first basements). These sloppy survivors are examples of what happens when the cube inspector is paid off.

I just found out that I'm slotted to co-teach inclusion classes, so no. It's supposed to be all social studies classes, but that could change. I haven't been assigned to any particular class or teacher yet. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
