My husband enjoyed the Christma goodies to eat though, and the kids too. Nice leftover ham to cook tonight.

I'm glad you're feeling better on your meds chonsi...What a miserable thing to happen on Christmas.

Whine and complaint of my day....it's rainy and foggy out, and it's also gotten a bit warmer so all our snow is melting. This should be a good thing right? Wrong...when ever I let my dogs out they come in full of mud and all wet and have to be cleaned up...what an awful mess!! The kitchen floor looks like a very large mud bath.

It's supposed to drop in temperature here too, it'll just make everything icy again. We won't be able to walk outside, but at least the dogs won't be so muddy! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

I've not been outside so I've no idea what it's like. I have a thermometer in my bedroom and it was reading 8C when I got up. I only put the heating on in there when I shower and dress, otherwise a timer switches the heater on during work days.

I don't want it to be icy when I have to go and collect my lass. Snow I can deal with, ice is a different matter.

The ice is the worst. You have good ideas about the heat. We have a timed thermostat that we always had set for when we were gone, bedtime, and while we were home. Now that I'm disabled and home all the time, we don't set anything on it...I adjust it to hot or cold I am...usually too hot.

Some whines for the day :

My brother's live in lover refuses to flush the toilet after she's used it. Even though she's living in the same house as me and my mother, she doesn't talk to either me or my mom. She doesn't even acknowledge our presence. She acts as if we aren't there. Whenever she sees us, she rolls her eyes up and makes a disgusting face at us as if she's better than us even though she's a guest (my brother's guest ) in our house and not the other way around.

My brother has been freeloading me and my mother for years now. Even though he's got two Master's Degrees, he refuses to get a job ( he says it's tiring and hates work. He prefers to spend time with his live in lover instead. By the way, she's got a Doctorate's Degree and refuses to work as well.) They spend several hours a day in his room, which he locks and when my mom knocks on the door, he doesn't open it. They only come out to go to the toilet, eat and go out together. Where does he get his spending money from ? He steals it from my mom when she leaves money hanging around ( which happens often.)

The worst thing about this whole scenario is that my mother condones this behaviour from them. She totally (100%) sides with them. She says stuff like, " They're highly educated. Highly educated people don't have to work. His girlfriend isn't arrogant. She's just the quiet type who doesn't like to socialize. It's okay that he doesn't open the door for me. Maybe they're busy chatting or something. It's okay that they're freeloading off of me. A mother's duty is to take care of her son. I love him and I will pay for him. It's okay that his girlfriend doesn't work. Since my son loves her, I will pay for her also." Grrrrrrrrr !! This whole thing is so annoying. To make matters worse, my mom forces me to give part of my salary to my brother and his girlfriend so they can have some more spending money. She says to me," Since you are his younger sister, it's your duty to take care of your older brother. Sisters have to take care of their brothers."

The only reason why I haven't moved out is because I feel really sorry for my mother. She's elderly, very ill and right now, I'm her caretaker. She doesn't love me but I do love her.

Wow !!!! :) That felt good letting it all out like that ! I feel much, much better now. :-6 Thanks for letting me do all that whining ! What a great outlet ( for my pent up feelings) this post is. I loooove this post soooo much !!! :-4

perhaps his lover and himself need to move out......now!:-5:-5

tell him he has one month to get a job and a place to stay.

They do not respect your mother in her own home!

your mom does not need his stealing and ignorance!

if they are not out by then, change the locks on the doors.

Wow nok, that is hard. If your brother and girl don't work, bring them home some job applications from Macdonald's or something, tell them to start filling them out, they have a specific time period to start working or they have to move. You can tell him from me with a PhD, work is work. He can either go tutor at one of the Sylvan type agencies, or do menial labor. I work up to 3 jobs to support myself and my husband, and I don't give myself airs what degree I have-work is work. We all would like the fancy jobs at a big college, but I am thankful for what I have. I know what job he can get right away-a substitute teacher. He is qualified, they are always desparate for them, and they pay about $100/day. And the girl can do that also, there is no excuse for them not to work.

It is not your "responsibility" to take care of your brother the freeloader. I wouldn't give one penny to him or his awful rude lover. Do they ever say "thankyou". Probably not as they know you will fork over your hard earned cash to them so they can go waste it. They sound like the most two self centered a$$wipes.

If you threatened to move out what would happen?

nok, that sounds like a terrible situation for you. With your mom being so ill, have you tried telling them you would give them some money if they become the caretakers of her? They both sound like spoiled brats and they should be kicked out right away. If your mom sides with them all the time, I'd move out...and what would happen if you told everyone "NO" about giving them money?

nok, much good advice was already given by your FG friends! Just adding my 2 cents worth. You said you're your moms "care-giver", that's very admirable of you! She raised you (& your brother) when you were a child, so now you're very kindly reciprocating, which is understandable. However, you certainly are not & should not be your brother's & or his lovers "caregiver", and or enabler!!! You owe them no support, especially after seeing how selfishly self centered they both are!

You may want to consider to start living your own life, as you will find life is short, so don't let it pass you bye!

Good luck & best wishes on whatever you decide!

Because you don't live with your mom, is there anything you can do to get your brother out from under her?

Todays whine....my 16yr old just got her drivers license today. She's a great driver so I don't worry too much. This is my last kid to go thru this and although I'm proud of her, it brings a certain type of sadness. She's growing up to fast and pretty soon I'll have no kids here. :(
