Hey there Pam. What's the weather like by you? Is there a special Austrialian dish that's eaten there for the Christmas celebration?

Am keeping warm working with #1 daughter clearing out stuff from shelves, closets and such. I am trying to simplify my life so that I can enjoy it more.

Talk wit ya later when you snack tlw back again. :D

Back now - and done a few hours' work too... my halo is shining brightly. Grin. We've had some odd weather lately. We're well into summer of course. A couple of weeks ago there was snow inland a bit. In Sydney it's warm and good beach weather. Then at the outdoor carols on Saturday night, we all needed sweaters!! Go figger. A bit overcast now, and each late afternoon there's been high winds. All of this is not unheard of here, but it's a bit weird. Gonna be 27 degrees today. This time of year it could be 37!! I'll take the 27! Celsius.

As for Christmas food - it depends a bit. I'm married to an Englishman and we usually have the typical English Christmas dinner - roast turkey, sage and onion stuffing, bread sauce, cranberry sauce, roast potatoes, roast pumpkin, brussels sprouts - followed (if you can!) by plum pudding and brandy custard, nuts in their shells, muscatel raisins.

Ethnic groups in Australia do their own thing. I think probably the most normal Australian Christmas is a family barbecue or a picnic at the beach, or having ham and turkey but cold with salads and fruit (maybe a pavlova - which is fresh fruit and cream in a meringue case.)

Funny about the cleaning of shelves / declutter - I'm doing exactly the same thing here.

First year I won't be cooking, Kindle. Two of my kids are celebrating an early Christmas together in Paris as we speak. Then my son is rostered on to work over the festival in London, and my younger daughter is going out in the countryside with a colleague to celebrate in traditional French style Christmas. My remaining daughter has just moved into a new place out in the Aussie countryside with her husband and young son and I'm joining them for a bought buffet lunch - all traditional roast meats etc ... Will be different - but nice to be out of the kitchen for a change.

And swat Cars from me will you - he's hogging tlw.
