which method works best for weight loss for you?

Been working out now for two months on a gazelle, its much easier on your joints than a treadmill, and there is no pounding of the joints or body like a threadmill.

It is however a slower way of losing weight, as some of us get older, joint pains, muscle aches, sore knees, legs, whatever ails you, this is the best equipment and also easier than walking outside on cement.

I feel so much better and have lost over 20 lbs...2 more sizes lower in clothing.

I lost four stone in weight in 9 months. My doc said to me that all you do, is serve up your meal or snack, then remove half of it to another plate (Don't eat it later).

That way, your not stopping eating the things you love. Your just having half your intake.

It worked for me............ Honest.:driving:

Swimming, thats a good one for me. That and cutting down on things like pasta and cakes, chocolate and cheese, which are things I love, but are a bit fattening. I think a little bit of exercise every day, and also reducing some of the more obviously fattening things from your diet works wonders. But you have to do them together.

Brisk Walking and swimming are good fat burners.. Also just cut out the snacks and just eat 3 well balanced meals or 6 smaller meals a day.

Forget scales and just eat when your hungry and limit the alcohol intake, slowly but keep it off is better than fast but pile back on:D:D:D:D

What a great thing, Odie! Post a picture of a gazelle for me, it sounds interesting.

Just eat sensibly, cut back on carbs with more veggies and fruits. A slow weight lloss is one that will stay off easier. For exercise, I walk everyday-about 15-20,000 steps on the pedometer. I go to the gym and only use the bike for 5 miles and the treadmill to walk, usually on an incline. I never run unless I have to, because of the impact on the older legs. And I go to TKD 2-3 times a week, so for me that is an hour of the highest calorie burning on my schedule. I run there, but the floor is cushioned, it is not too bad. Dr. G's suggestion of swimming is a good one, nothing is nicer than an indoor pool in the winter, and they have aerobic classes too besides doing laps. Swimming burns a high amount of calories and is so nice to be in the warm water when it is freezing outside.

Good for you.

I'm sure most everything works, if you use it. That's the hardest for me. I buy it. I start the program and then it becomes just another thing I own.

For me, I've found I've got to go somewhere, at a certain time and follow the directions of an instructor. Water exercizses have been the most successful for me. I so enjoy the socializing with the others in the water.

funny how we are all so different, its good that you can push yourself to go out and work out...where I lack that motivation....if something is right at home....then I can workout when I feel like it.

and as previously said, swimming is supposed to be the best and easy on your body.............good for you!

NBM works for me that "NOTHING BY MOUTH" and exercise. It is very simple stop eating as much and get moving. For those that need medical intervention get it your health is a stake.

I have a dear, dear friend who is extremely over weight. One day she woke up and decided that is it. She designed a diet that suits here life style (not the usual 3 square meals a day) but one that she felt she could stick to. I just spoke to here over the weekend as she is back east visiting her daughter. She has lost 80 pounds in 6 months and feels great. It is minds over matter in most cases the will power must be there or it won't happen.

Bravo to all of you for working so hard it will pay off. I need to get my fluffy butt back on the treadmill and get motivated. :-5

The method that works best for me - I lost 45 pounds and have kept it off............

I eat 5 times a day. I eat within 2 hours after I get up...now I have to eat or I are a byatch in the AM . I eat probably 1700 calories a day but I eat them over 4 or 5 small meals. I am 5'8" and weigh between 143 and 148 on any given day. Yes - I have those nasty cottage cheeselooking thighs - I'm, 53. My whole body is falling to my knees at this point. Except my breasts. I had breast cancer and survived so now I have implants...I'll be 90 with perky tits and all my thighs and butt at my knees. I think I can hide that with capri pants...LMAO.

Dont eat too many carbohydrates at night. Eat them earlier in the day so you have a chance to burn it off during the day. Ration snacks. Dont buy too many of them..... if you try to give it up then you deprive yourself too much and then you splurge. At least thats what happens to me. I try to eat snacks that include mostly fruit. Like a banana with a very small scoop of ice cream and just a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Or peaches with a very small scoop of frozen yogurt. Then you satisfy your sweet tooth but it is mostly fruit. Eat slowly. It takes your body about 20 minutes to start processing food. If you eat fast you can eat more than you need. If you eat slowly then you will feel full before you are finished. This really works. You will feel full on less food.

I've gone up and down in weight all my life until about 2 years ago, I just stayed heavy....whined about the weight but NOW I am finally doing something about it. Well, since March (when I got laid off from work) I walked everyday from 20-60 minutes a day, at minimum 5 days a week. Now that it is cold, I have been using the wii fit as my exercise program, I LOVE IT!...Eventually I'd like to get a membership at the Y again because I do love to swim in the winter....

the challenge for me is FOOD...and with being unemployed all this time, the night snacking was my enemy! I'm so glad that I'm getting back on track...

10 years I lost 40 lbs in 6 months by exercising and eating healthier....I can do it again!! I know I can!

its hard staying at home and being unemployed......was a disaster for me also!

but now that I am not going back to work, my desires have changed, so exercise and eating proper are much easier...accept of course right now, but soon as Christmas is over with, no goodies will be left......back on track.
