I've had morphine after surgeries....it does make me a little lala, but it wasn't too good with the pain. The difference with this over oral morphine, or even in an IV, is that since they are putting it directly into the spinal cavity, it only takes about 1/300th of the strength of the others. It shouldn't be too bad, and if it is, I just won't have it done...I don't want to be in a permanent lala land. (although sometimes it would be nice!) :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Oh, and just so you get an idea of how much pain meds do NOT work on me, 4yrs ago my knee cap dislocated onto the side of my leg and was stuck. It was the worst pain I've ever had. The paramedics gave me 2 shots of morphine before they even got me on the stretcher. This did not help the pain one bit, and it didn't make me lala either. In the ambulance they called the hospital to get the ok to give me a 3rd shot (they could only do 2 without approval) and the hospital ok'ed it, but I refused it because it just didn't work. This is why I say I'm afraid it won't work...but it's worth a shot!! I've got my fingers crossed!

Not made of steel, but full of titanium.:yh_rotfl I think it's a hereditary thing, my dad was the same way. Even for dentistry things I have to be put to sleep. One time they gave me 6 shots of novocaine in my mouth and I was still wanting to scream. My primary doctor told me that it could be a result of how long I was an alcoholic. I actually had a pain specialist want to do a study on me...he had been in the business about 10yrs and said he had heard of people like me, but he'd never had a patient like that before. It can be very frustrating. :-5:-5 I'm still hoping this works cuz of where they put the injection. tomorrow's the big day!!! :yh_nailbi:yh_nailbi

The past couple of days we were out of it, no tissues either. We used paper towels, they ran out, so I found a few napkins. When hubby called last night on his way home he asked if I needed anything and I told him "something to wipe my butt". :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

My PC has got cooties.One program found 9 criticals in it, but then wouldn't let me delete them so now I'm running a different program that will hopefully find the problems too but will let me delete the problems. That means I'm on my laptop, which I hate using, so if my posts look all screwed up it's the laptops fault!!! :-5:-5:-5

they say the worse has not gotten here yet.

Yes it's a pain center. They just don't have any other options, I've been thru them all.

No surgery, I had that last year and it didn't help. They won't put the morphine drip in cuz the shot didn't help.

So I'm sitting here just wallowing in a huge pity party for myself. I just feel so defeated and hopeless.

The back would have been 2 options if either of my trails were successful and they would have implanted something into my back, but that didn't work so I won't have surgery on my back...no point of it cuz it wouldn't do any good. The other is for a female problem but I wouldn't be able to have 2 surgeries that close together. I was so hoping that the back thing would work that I pushed off the female thing. We've applied for help with insurance for next year, and with my medicare I should be able to get the female stuff done after the beginning of the year with little to no cost.

there must be something they can do.....why not try another specialist?

we do here, sometimes it takes many to find a cure........but its worth it.

This is my 4th pain doc. We've talked about going to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. If anyone can help they can, but it's hard to get in there and it's also quite aways from home.

Oh, this is fun ! I'm going to join in. I have a lot to whine about.

My boss gives me a lot of work to do and barely pays me

My mother always sides with my brother and everyone else ( except me) as well.

My brother is a total ******* and constantly plays dirty tricks on me and criticizes me behind my back so that his friends and mine as well ( believing him) thinks that I'm pure chit and avoid me like I'm some kind of a germ or something.

I do more than my share of the housework because even though there are a lot of people living with me, they refuse to lift a finger to help me. They say that they're not my maid. Well then, what makes them think that I'm their maid in the first place ????

Wheew ! I feel a lot better after all that whining. I'll come back in again ( later) and whine some more. This is a good thread. I really like it.
