What Do You Do for Dry Skin in the Winter?
LOL@Jimbo
Moisturise Ducky! and tons of it!!!....
Body buff, shed away all the dead skin, then slap on loads of moisturiser.... cotton gloves on hands and feet works great too, just drown them in moisturiser first then pop the gloves and socks on....
I also use something called Elizabeth Ardens 8 hour cream on really dry patches I may get on my face.... it's like a really thick vaseline... and when you wake in the morning, your skin will be lovely again!!!... great stuff, definately a product I'd recommend....

What Do You Do for Dry Skin in the Winter?
Vaseline for my dry skin, but then I'm hypersensitive to most creams.
Simple used to be good but they are in fact full of chemicals. Aqueous cream makes me itch even more, the doctor gave me some diprobase to try last week, I now have extremely dry and cracked hands, guess my skin doesn't like that one either

What Do You Do for Dry Skin in the Winter?
Aqueous cream is a light, non-greasy moisturiser that provides a layer of oil on the surface of the skin to prevent water evaporating from the skin surface.
It is made from a mixture of emulsifying ointment (which contains paraffin oils) and water, with phenoxyethanol as an antimicrobial preservative.
Dry skin results from lack of water in the outer layer of skin cells known as the stratum corneum. When this layer becomes dehydrated it loses its flexibility and becomes cracked, scaly and sometimes itchy. The stratum corneum contains natural water-holding substances that retain water seeping up from the deeper layers of the skin, and water is also normally retained in the stratum corneum by a surface film of natural oil (sebum) and broken-down skin cells, which slow down evaporation of water from the skin surface.
The skin dries out when too much water evaporates from its surface. This increases as we get older, and is made worse by washing, because hot water and soap remove the layer of natural oil on the skin surface.
Moisturisers such as aqueous cream are helpful for all dry skin conditions, particularly eczema and dermatitis, which get worse when the skin is allowed to dry out. Used regularly they help restore the skin's smoothness, softness and flexibility by helping the skin retain moisture. They should be applied frequently to prevent the skin drying out.
Aqueous cream can also be used in place of soap when washing to prevent drying the skin.
In conditions such as eczema, using a moisturiser regularly, even once the skin has improved, can help prevent flare-ups of this condition.

I have excema so I do not use anything with fragrances and I hate greasy hand lotions, plus when my skin breaks out from the itching, this lotion does not sting.
I use Cetaphil.....which was recommended by my specialist.
best one I have ever used, I cannot work with the greasy ones.

I see a dermatologist for my excema, I use Cetaphil, completely perfume free and alcohol free.
Some do say perfume free, but they all have alcohol in them which will burn the cracks in your skin.
-no stinging when my hands are split from scratching
-non-greasy.
it's not a prescription, you can buy it at your pharmacy.......and I also use their bar soap.
actually its less expensive than most.

"Well sir, I represent Schneller, Barnum, and Holtz. We're paid by
private companies to canvas thousands of consumers like yourself for
feedback on their products. Today we're soliciting comments on Vaseline
petroleum jelly. Would you have time to answer just a couple of questions?"
"I don't see how a couple of questions could hurt, fire away young man",
says the homeowner.
Looking down at his clipboard, the survey-taker asks, "Okay...first, you
do use Vaseline, correct?".
"Yessir, for as long as I can remember".
"Great, now what exactly do you use it for?" replies the survey-taker with
his pen poised over his clipboard, ready to record the answer.
"Let's see.....we use it for dry skin, chapped lips, and sex."
The well-dressed man stops writing abruptly. He looks around, leans
forward and in a low voice says "We pride ourselves in being very thorough
sir. I know how you'd use Vaseline for dry skin and chapped lips. But would
you mind telling me how you use it for sex?".
"No problem," the homeowner says in a whisper, "we put it on our bedroom

backwards before the homeowner continues, "It keeps the kids out".

I have VERY sensitive skin and my doc just recommended Cetaphil......IT'S AMAZING! I am so happy that I can finally put lotion on my face without it breaking out. This is the first time in 41 years that I have been able to use lotion on my face at all and it feels amazing. We live in the Pacific Northwest where it is soooooooooo cold and dry, too! WOOHOO!!!!!!!! I am absolutely thrilled :-6

That`s what my dermatologist recommended I use and their bar soap.
My fingers break open and its the only lotion in the world that does not burn.
It`s cold and dry here to.
try the bar soap for your face and hands, its also outstanding!:-6

Gloves in a Bottle
It keeps the moisture in as opposed to constantly replenishing the moisture you lose.
Its like a sealant.
Once applied it feels like youve superglued yourself.
Its great.

Mosturise with loads of coco butter cream. Stuff with vitamin e in it as well. Coco butter is the best though.

Oh I forgot to mention the soap lol I bought the bottled Cetaphil soap and it has been awesome but I will try the bar soap as well. I hate dealing with a bottle of soap (just a weirdo thing about me)
After Christmas, when everything opens back up, I will go on my search for the bar. Hopefully the Base Exchange carries it. Thanks a bunch!
