It would seem I hold Richard Nixon in more honor than you do. I'd rate him as one of the ten greatest Presidents the US ever had. I agree he's easy to mock. Nevertheless he worked hard on behalf of his country and achieved much in the process.

He added that Australian government agencies will monitor activities in the nation's Mosques and that if they didn't like it to get OUT !

Thankyou for that. I have to keep reminding my fellow countrymen that although Gordon brown is Labour.. He is not Tony Blair. There was a bitter fued for at least 2 yrs between Blair and Brown. Brown only had two alternatives, one to stick it out and force Blair out or two, resign and possibly bring down the government.
Gordon Brown has shown remarkable Leadership over the past months and at last, we have a Prime Minister who has put the 'Great' back into Great Britain. He is Internationally admired (and feared, but that's alot to do with his Scottishness), and respected.
I agree with you about John Howard. I remember the speech well. Gordon brown is getting tough on Immigration and as to be expected, the 'Blairites' of this country are accussing him of being rascist. He recently said, 'To curb immigration is to be sensible, not racist.
For those who are not aware of the much admired John Howard speech, it is as follows:
"IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take it or leave it. I am tired of this nation worrying about offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.
This culture has been developed over two centurie's of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak mainly English, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society: LEARN THE LANGUAGE!!!
Most Australians believe in god. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If god offends you, then i suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because god is part of our culture.
We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.
