So..... which car did you first drive?

Mine was a little red Metro... nippy little thing that was... I loved that car

mine was a blue sigma.....loved it.......but then someone stole it and smashed all the windows, slashed the tyres and jumped on the roof. Then they left it sitting in the middle of the road....it looked so lonely

I kinda knew my husband, he lived in the same street but I really met him when he was repairing his old mini van a friend asked me to take him a cup of tea and I did but sat in the car and got the seat belt clip stuck and couldn't get out! He had to free me and it sparked the relationship.

When I passed my driving test he asked what sort of car I wanted of course I said a mini. Two days later he came home dropped the brochures from the garage on the table and said 'they are expecting you to call just to let them know what colour you want'

My little Lipari blue mini we had great times.. I sold it on when I left England.

Blue Cortina......35 years ago and can still remember the reg number even though I have 2 motors now and cant remember eithers number:-5:-5:(

My first car was a 1970 XY Ford Falcon sedan, 250 cubic inch engine, and three on the tree, was a great car, could crack 100mph with bad valves

A blue Honda Civic hatchback, stick shift and no air. Got to 150,000 miles before the alternator went and I sold it to some guy for $500.00

what a small world, we had a blue Cortina also.

we never had ours long, as it would never start when it rained!:-5

also hated driving standand in this huge city.

Mine was a 1940 Ford pickup truck. If I remember right, it had the 85 HP V-8 engine. Three speed floor shifter. No power steering, no power brakes, no electric windows or seats, no air or radio. Just an honest, no nonsense workhorse.

1955 Ford Skyliner was my first "leagally owned" beauty! (Insted of Red, mine was canary yellow!) Before that, I bought a 39 merc sedan, & a 48 Buick Roadmaster convertable before I even was old enough to have a driver's license! I used those cars to learn how to work/tinker on reparing cars.

I actually installed the "continental wheel kit" shown on car above, on my own Ford! It was a great car, I had it until I traded it in on a 57 Buick Roadmaster Convertable! I loved Convertables, "back then"!

I still love convertables LOL... have one now... nothing quite as delicious as the car you have pictured though...

Canary yellow was very popular then and must have looked awesome on your 55 Ford Skyliner!

I sure do wish I had that car now, it would be outstanding, & not look like all the cars today, you know that ones that "all look alike"!

I just noticed you live in New England.... I moved there from England many moons ago and lived there for two years till my homesickness brought me back to good old Blighty... I lived in New Hampshire.... it was a very beautiful part of the world.....

i had never owned a car when my husband and i got married, we were so young 17 and 19. but he owned a red mustang, that became our first car.

it was the car we used to leave the church after the wedding and wouldn't ya know it the ushers and some other guys put so much junk on it, shaving cream and stuff, that you wouldn't believe it!

sadly some of the shaving cream was menthol or something and it mottled up the paint job! :-5

First car I drove properly, when I was allowed to mind :rolleyes: was the ex's Vauxhall Cavalier, we traded that in for a Vectra turbo diesel. But the car I first ever owned outright is the one I bought three years ago, another Vauxhall :rolleyes:

Yes Milly, NE is beautiful, with the 4 seasons! Especially in fall, after the first frost when all the trees leaves become like a landscape tapestry of vibrant rainbow colors! Then, with the virgin Snow on the trees & bushes is another beautiful sight to behold! I have to admit though, that having to "travel 22 miles" one way in the ice & snow to get to work was a dreaded task! My wife & I don't like the cold weather now that we're older, so that's why "we head down South" for the winter time, since I retired! It's great, basically year round sun!!! :-6

Due to being worked to the bone LOL, I didn't get the opportunity to venture beyond Boston!.... But I hear what you're saying hunny... year round sun, does sound 'very' appealing......

I think I'd quite like a concourse quality Messerschmitt KR200 bubble car from the late fifties. Easy to maintain, not much to polish, instantly recognisable, what more could you ask for?
