Greetings to all the Gardeners

Post by Kindle »

Today is my first day here and I have enjoyed reading many of the posts. Tho this is the first thread I've created, I have posted several replies in various threads and played in some game threads.

I am married 29 years and I'm retired except for a part time job I handle from our home. Learning to "be at home" was very difficult for me, but now I'm loving it.

We have two daughters, one son-in-law, two grandsons and one dog. Only the dog currently lives with us.

I love to read and am hoping to be able to share thoughts on books with other readers that may be here.

In recent years I have taken up knitting and I am part of a shawl ministry at our church which knits and give shawls to others.

I set two challenges for myself this last year: 1) to learn to swim and 2) learn to knit socks. I've got 2 more months to "get 'er done".

My newest interest is a desire to learn to speak Spanish. I am currently looking into getting the language DVD's from RossettaStone. Is anyone here familar with their product?

I'm hoping to make friends here and have some fun. I hope you will accept my presence and enjoy my company once you get to know me.

The user name I picked is Kindle. A Kindle is a wireless reader sold by Amazon. I thought it was appropriate for here as it will be through reading what I write that you will connect with me. The dictionary definition for kindle also speaks to me.........

Thanks. And I have a question.

Whats the procedure when playing/talking back and forth on various threads and you need to sign off. How do you indicate that so it doesn't seem like one is just disappearing. Or, is this how it is done?

Yes, we mostly pop off and perhaps come back if we see someone else has posted in the thread. If we're having a long dialogue with a member, we usually let them know that we're off on new adventures.

There's also a good night thread if you wish to say cheereo.....but, you certainly don't have to.

Thanks Kathy. I've not noticed a goodnight thread. Perhaps it's not used much??
