Venesat-1 successfully reaches orbit

Post by spot »

Venezuela's first communications satellite entered geostationary orbit yesterday evening on a launch from China. It's 5 tons, has a 15 year active life estimate and covers most of South America from Argentina to Mexico. It's for civil use and the Venezuelans say they'll let their neighbours share time on it for social programmes such as tele-education and tele-medicine.

Well done Venezuela. Long live the Bolivarian Revolution.
