Antakshari

Antakshari (अन्ताक्षरी)is a musical game played in India.

The word is derived from two Hindi (with Sanskrit origins) roots:

1. Ant (अन्त) meaning End.

2. Akshar (अक्षर) meaning letter of the alphabet.

The idea of the game is to post the first two lines of a song (usually from Bollywood movies, but any song will do here). The last letter of the last word is then used by the next poster using the lyrics of another song, starting with that letter.

For example:

1) To the tables down at Mory's

To the place where Louie dwells

The second poster follows with two lines of lyrics that begin with the letter "S"...

2) Sous les nuages de la nuit

je marche vers la clairière.

Then the next poster will follow with lyrics that begin with the letter "E". Make sense?
