On MSNBC news today, there's a headline that talks about 5 dead in deer hunting dispute
Now does anybody else believe that is the start of yet another movement towards having our "bangs bangs" taken away , because we can't play nice?

What, you mean some anti gun lobbyist started sniping the hunters? or the hunters started sniping the anti deer hunting lobbyist, in which case why did he have a gun to shoot back with? sounds more like a nutter with a gun. why would anyone bother with such a conspiracy?

I saw a story about a puppy who shot his owner. The owner was trying to kill the puppy and his litter-mates :-5 , so now the puppy is a hero. He didn't kill the owner; he shot him in the hand.
This brilliant and oh-so kind owner was trying to hold wriggling puppies and a loaded gun at the same time. The puppy got tangled in the gun, and BAM!
I'm quite certain the purpose of this story is to prove that people don't kill people (with guns) - puppies do it, too!

Definately alien life forms. Deer that is. I read about the wonderful gentleman that was shot by the pup.. actually more power to the pup in this instance. Anyway, this story about the contested deer stand that led to 5 deaths is one of the main reasons I gave up deer hunting.. way too many nutcases out in the woods. I actually witnessed a hunter.. (least that is what he thought he was) take out Jersey cow.. saw a patch of brown fur thru a gap in the brush and pulled the trigger.... then he was gonna take off without telling the farmer.. that was my last year in the woods. I don't even hike during this time of year..

I nearly shot a cow once... it was on my Uncle's farm. I'd set some targets up
against a Cornish hedge (an arrangement of earth-filled stone wall with a hedge
of trees and bushes growing on top). I was busy setting up the rifle when a
cow of just the same shade as the hedge wandered slowly across. I saw it in
enough time, but it made me think!

That seems rather irresponsible, from a safety and a sporting point of view. How
could he know which part of the animal he was looking at?

Shouldn't be allowed out!

Extremely irresponsible.. I learned to hunt at a young age and the first lesson that was drilled into my head was you never shoot at anything until you see the full target. Never ever shoot at a noise or a partial target.. don't even raise your weapon.. but, many people are not taught basic firearms or hunting safety, hence there is always accidental shootings.. and deaths, not that this incident was an accident. This is leaning more towards hunters rage or something..

we have to contend with deer culling over open moorland if they miss you don't know where the bullet will end up, it's the only time of the year landowners can lawfully stop you going on their land

Grey--same kind of thing happened to me. My friend and I were hunting on top of a Mt. in state game lands and saw several deer, tails only, no Idea what they were, buck or doe so naturally we just laughed and let them go. We could follow exactlly where they went by the sound of the gunshots and those guys had no more idea what those deer were than my friend and I did. We got off the Mt. and I haven't hunted since that date. There are just to many fools with guns and no common sense in the woods.

Perhaps we should let the kitty above hunt that Mt. Might be a different story.. hahahaha.. but on a serious note, the count is now 6 dead. I guess the guy had his stand on private property, was asked to leave and responded by killing 6 people. Course if they charge him with anything he will plead insanity or some crap ... or will have some excuse like he had to wear a tutu when he was a kid or something.... scary.. extremely scary...

Just read that this morning. It will be interesting to see what the two survivors say happened. Anyway.. a tragic situation for all the families involved
