The unOfficial Forum Garden Scavenger Hunt 2008!

Win FG Casino Cash!

First Place: $25,000

Second Place: $10,000

Third Place $5,000

And many more prizes to be available later on.

I was once involved in what is widely considered to be the world's largest scavenger hunt, back in my university days. This scavenger hunt is a forum version of that same scavenger hunt.

Individuals or teams compete to acquire items off a list, with each item assigned a point value and evaluated by a panel of judges. Items may involve performing tasks, research, and finding obscure threads/posts... The first individual or team to complete this list of tasks, locates the most objects... and essentially accumulates the most points wins. There will be extra points given based on style and creativity in fulfilling this task, as well.

RULES OF THE HUNT

1) Acquisition of Items:

All items on the list can be obtained and performed legally. It may involve smooth

talking, or it may involve something else, but it is all possible. The Judges take no responsibility over your getting thrown into jail or banned... all participants must still follow the forum rules.

2) Fair Play:

Sabotage is bad. We don’t like it and we don’t want it in the Scavenger Hunt. Sabotaging teams or their items can lead to immediate disqualification, and even then we may turn the hounds up in Admin loose on you just for fun.

3) Contact with Judges:

I'm the judge and once the hunt is on... there will be limited discussion concerning the Scavenger Hunt.

4) Props:

All props should continue to be limited solely to mad props. :p

5) Points:

Point totals are final. The Judges give out points for the spirit of the item in its presentation. In some places, bonus points are also awarded for going above and beyond the Judges’ concept of the Call of Duty. As far as point values, well, we used a dartboard and Tibetan numerological methods in determining how much items were worth, so no complaining that your item is worth more than so-and-so's item based on whatever random value placement system you use. Whatever value system the judges use here is way better than yours. Trust me on this. :p

There is a category of points called Special Points or, if you prefer, Super Special Points. If you put the kind of effort into a 5-point item that makes it worth, obviously, more than just that, the Judge judging the page will appeal to the Head Judge for Special Points. For example, if we say, “Bring us a Kobe Bryant jersey,” and you get a jersey at K-Mart, you will only get the 5 points. If, however, Kobe Bryant is wearing that jersey, then the Judge will appeal for an additional, like, 2 points in Special Points to be added for the extra effort.

Also, keep an eye out for this lil' fella' for tips on how to earn bonus points.

6) Prizes:

There will be casino cash prizes for First, Second and Third places... depending upon how much cash is available at the completion of the scavenger hunt... currently, I've lost my ass recently in the casino and am down some $6,000 now. :p

7) Decisions:

All decisions of the Judges are final.

8) Final:

See Decisions.

Okay now, does everyone got that? :D

A good way of pairing up with teams and completing the list is to fill out as much as you can and compare notes via pm.

By the way, Carolly doesn't want anyone else to win that big prize. ;)

It'll begin soon... just working out some details and legal stuff... :p We also want to give folks a chance to organize and register groups before the list is posted.

I just found the biggest treasure imaginable...:D
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

The Official FG Scavenger Hunt List will be posted shortly.

what kind of prizes later on?:D

Almost ready to post the list. Just need to do one more thing and adjust the points system due to recent activity. We should give plenty of notice so that everyone has an opportunity to start at the same time. How about some time on Monday? What's a good time... noon Pacific time, maybe?
