A biker funeral

Post by BabyRider »

We buried a brother from the Devil's Diciples today. (Yes, diciples is spelled that way on purpose.) We had Devil's Diciples from Ohio, Alabama, Indiana, (and some nomads) and of course Michigan; Blue Angels, Hell's Angels, Vigilantes, Hell's Our Home, Red Wings and Violaters all show up. It was quite a sight to see. A funeral home filled with leather, long hair, jeans and tattoos. Rags from so many different clubs is unusual in one place, and it was a little unnerving.

The pall bearers carry their brother to the hearse, and from the hearse to the tent for the graveside service. Usually the attendants of the cemetary take it from there, and get the casket to the actual grave. Not today. The brothers picked up the casket and carried it about 100 yards to the grave, down an aisle formed by all the bikers. When we got the grave, we all yelled "Happy Birthday" and poured Jack Daniels on the coffin, brothers stuck mementos inside the casket, and arranged the man's colors over his body. They capped the case and lowered him into the ground. When the workers moved in to begin shoveling the dirt into the hole, the Diciples took the shovels from them all and took turns filling the hole themselves.

This is one of the things I love about M.C.'s. They are family, brothers, to the very last step. They would not trust their brother to the hands of anyone else and saw him into the ground themselves.

The next time you see a biker wearing rags and think "Troublemaker" think about the loyalty and total devotion they are capable of.

Keg, rest in peace, and Happy Birthday. :yh_peace

BIKERS

By: Unnamed

Bikers are a strange breed-

Because when it comes to living,

Men act like they're going to live forever

And feel short changed when they don't-

But most bikers know the truth-

When it comes to life

We're all just passing through

So you might as well enjoy the ride

So what others measure In dollars and cents

Bikers measure in speed and chrome cast iron, stainless steel, black rubber and power

And it's what your gauges measure that counts...

Not other's expectations.

It's twisting the wick

Snapping the next gear...

Going down the red line

While you streak down the white line.

Leaving all the citizens to stay in line

'Cause you know the truth

We're all just passing through

And heaven is just one more gear up

It's an event, when you get so many groups interacting. I'm glad you got the chance to do him proud, BR.

The time we get a lot of biker interaction in England is at http://www.bulldogbash.com/ every August. I've a daughter who does festivals each summer, and she was invited to that one a while back. She came home saying she'd never felt safer, that the bikers around her tent looked after her as though she were their own. I always nod when a biker in colors goes past.

I'll never forget years ago going to the funeral of a young boy. When ABATE showed up on their motorcycles, dressed in leather, etc., the funeral director locked the door! I think he was quite suprised and impressed once we convinced him they were supposed to be there and they put the key to a brand new Harley, and other items in the casket with him. Quite an extraordinary group! They had watched this child throughout his illness, had fundraiser after fundraiser to help the family with medical costs, etc.

May your friend rest in peace.

Saturday September 27, 2008 we said good-bye to "ROACH"- so many people and MC's. It was a hard day for his kids, family friends, brothers and all who knew him. He was a great love of my life and touched so many others in one way or another. Things will just not be the same without him and those who knew him know exactly what I mean. He's at peace and with loved ones.

I will miss you forever-
