Unhappily, I've had to change my email address. I can't get back into my old email to get everyone's address. So if you didn't get my PM and you want the new address please PM me and I'll send it over. Thank you.

I would like to at least to recover some important saved mails and all my addresses. It was another Yahoo address and I contacted Yahoo three times and they weren't too helpful.

The buggers. Had it been email in a program on your hard drive I might have ventured to recover the information. An offline mail service is another kettle of fish entirely.

Is it a matter of an unknown password?

Well possibly. I had Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo email. I changed the password to my email and thats when things got messed up. First it wouldn't recognize the password so I did a CCleaner and dumped all cookies. Then it let me into email. But it wouldn't allow me back into Messenger with either old or new password. So I tried to uninstall/reinstall Messenger 9.0 and it still would not allow me to sign in. I tried getting a new Messenger account but that failed too. So I uninstalled it and signed up for a new Yahoo email and that went fine. Then I installed the Yahoo Messenger Beta for Vista (which I think I might like btw) and it installed perfectly, no problems. So I do have working email and Messenger and am happy but I would love to have back some of my mails and my addresses. I suppose changing the password must have knocked both out of sync? It's okay after all, I did need a change. Thank you for offering to help me, Spot. I appreciate that.

As best I understand these things, Yahoo will allow a single user to have dozens of Yahoo Messenger accounts online at the same time. I've certainly got three open at the moment. Each will have an associated email account which can be independently logged into with the password for that Messenger account - I'm fairly sure that changing the password in one forces a change in the password of the other, for a specific account.

But you've got two accounts and you know the passwords for both. Why not browse to https://login.yahoo.com/config/mail and log in with the old yahoo account name and the password you last used on it (at "Then it let me into email")? If that doesn't let you in we could try to work out why.

SPOT!!! It worked!!!

Why did it work just now and not all those other times?

Now I have my emails and addresses back! THANK YOU Spot, very much!!

I'm going to keep the new address since I have already notified quite a few people, but having my old email back is a huge happy thing for me.

Thank You. :yh_flower

RedGlitter;998280 wrote: Why did it work just now and not all those other times? At a guess, Yahoo has a days-long synchronisation period and different gateways into the mail system will reject old or new during the interim. I'm fairly sure that there'll be several checkpoints and if any one of them says no, because it's out of sync with the others, it has the power to abort the entire login process. Eventually, when all the ripples die down, you can get through again. I'm pleased you got to the missing data.
