great scenes

Mine is in "Last of the Mohicans", where Hawkeye says to the woman, "Stay alive. No matter where you go, I will find you," or something like that. That's the way a man should love a woman!

Valentine

<t>Anniversaries I understand, too. We celebrated 35 years this past July. Sometimes it seems like yesterday, other times it seems forever! Valentine's Day has been bigger for me since our kids grew up and flew the nest. After our youngest went, we began our "Honeymoon" period all over again. Same ...

Valentine

<t>We certainly celebrate Valentine's Day here in the US. My husband usually sends me flowers and a card, and we go out to dinner. I usually get him something silly that makes him smile. For the family, I get candy heart boxes for my grandchildren, and I usually send out Valentine Cards to close ...

Lighter thread, what's your favourite song?

My favorite song of all time is "Blue Velvet" by Bobby Vinton. I know I'm showing my age, but that song will outlast me!

Is Romance Dead?

Thanks for your input. I guess the older generation always has something to gripe about to the younger generation! I hope it is not dead, but in the beginning of a relationship, I don't see what's so wrong about getting to know someone before you "get to know someone" in the Biblical sense.

Is Romance Dead?

I agree with you, Hazel. The anticipation of the date, waiting for your date to pick you up, the whole nine yards. It's been over 35 years since then, and I still smile about it.

Is Romance Dead?

<t>I can't speak for anyone else but me. My children always wanted to know how we met and what we did when we were out together. But I also think that getting together with their friends, and that the norm out there now is to "live for the moment", so to speak. I hope as my son gets older, he'll see ...

Is Romance Dead?

<t>Don't I know it. I look at my youngest and try to figure it out. I realize that all generations are different. I probably dated a little bit different than my mother did. They miss out on the nice things about meeting someone and deciding how much they like them. They've got it bass-ackwards. Get ...

Is Romance Dead?

<t>I've been thinking about this since I had a very good conversation with my son, who is 25 years of age, hardworking, single. We got on the discussion of dating and I told him I felt romance is dead and it was his generation that killed it! <br/>

Does Bush really deserve all the bad press?

<t>I agree. I think the older you get, the more you theorize about it. Twenty years ago, that last thing on my mind was World News Tonight! Now I watch local and world news, and on Sunday CNN before church. I guess I worry mostly for my children and grandchildren. What they will be facing down the ...

Does Bush really deserve all the bad press?

<t>Accountable, How are things in your neck of the woods? Economy and all? I don't believe in "straight ticket". If you have a candidate that impresses you, I feel you should vote for them. But I truly have not seen anything good come out of this administration. And again, this is only my opinion ...

Does Bush really deserve all the bad press?

<t>Thanks for the discussion. I was talking about the first election, with Gore, who received the popular vote. Unfortunately for Democrats, there has not been anyone who is charismatic and intelligent, that has come to the forefront. But as far as the NEXT election is concerned, I believe there ...

Anything RANDOM Goes Here!!

<t>You know, I remember my grandma telling me that at one time, you could choose your groceries and they would have a boy deliver them to your door. Of course, that was a long, long time ago and it was a neighborhood store. Wouldn't that be nice? Back then, you would probably have known the "kid ...

Does Bush really deserve all the bad press?

<t>I thought long and hard about this. I still have not forgiven the man for stealing the election in 2000. I believe it was the first time in our nation that the man won the electoral votes and not the popluar vote. And if that's the case, why do we even have electoral votes in the first place ...

Reasons to drop yer diet.....

"A bottle of diet soda and a candy bar evens things out."

How true is that! In my younger days, nothing tasted better than a bottle of diet pepsi with a twix candy bar!

Do it yourself dinner?

<t>Yes, I do eat meat. My husband goes deer hunting every year and we thoroughly enjoy the fresh meat he brings home. But to go to a slaughterhouse and kill it? I don't think I could. I think at least when you kill for meat, there's the chance you might miss. It's more of a chance you give the ...

Dragonfly here. The one that got me was the LAST one. Rhonetta? She was going off on Paula. Why? I watched her like everyone else did, but I didn't see Paula say one hateful thing to her. Not like Simon did, but she went off on Paula. Oh, well, I guess that's why we watch it!

<t>My first time here, and I certainly hope it won't be the last! My screen name is Dragonfly, and I hope to learn a lot here, make new friends here, and maybe sometimes put my two cents in. Happily married lady of 35 years with three children and two grandchildren. I work full time, spend time with ...
