Broken

Here is a story to break your heart
Are you willing?
The heartbreak came into my life
My heart died minute by minute
Of nothing I could see
My heart cried out like an Eagle
In the long sweet savoring of its life
Which if you had heard it
You know it is a sacred thing
And for which if you had not heard it
You had better hurry to where it still sings
And believe me tell no one just where that is
Morning came
And my heart with its plan to fly way home
To some hidden place
Was dead on the earth
I tell you this to break your heart
By which I mean only that it
Break open and never close again
Help my heart to live with its dying
So we may find ourselves walking
Back down a path we forgot
Toward a field here on earth
Where the sun is so bright and clear
That even the dullest sparrow
Is seen in the full richness of an
Eagle
I am that sparrow
Are you willing?
The heartbreak came into my life
My heart died minute by minute
Of nothing I could see
My heart cried out like an Eagle
In the long sweet savoring of its life
Which if you had heard it
You know it is a sacred thing
And for which if you had not heard it
You had better hurry to where it still sings
And believe me tell no one just where that is
Morning came
And my heart with its plan to fly way home
To some hidden place
Was dead on the earth
I tell you this to break your heart
By which I mean only that it
Break open and never close again
Help my heart to live with its dying
So we may find ourselves walking
Back down a path we forgot
Toward a field here on earth
Where the sun is so bright and clear
That even the dullest sparrow
Is seen in the full richness of an
Eagle
I am that sparrow
