My friend the teacher who is now teaching 7 year olds has a majority of boys in her clas. The class is 24 and she has 16 boys, as everyone knows boys are crap at this age at sitting still for more than 0.00001 seconds.

She decided to rearrange the classroom into individual desks set in rows, just like you all remember, my maths teacher could hit you with the blackboard rubber (eraser) from 30ft. She had to get the school caretaker to get enough small tables and it took her almost a night to do it.

The result is that gone were the communal tables of 6 and every child had it's own desk with about 3 ft betewen them, guess what no troble keeping the little tykes quiet now because she can easily identify the troublesome ones as they have to lean across to intefere with their classmates.

On friday the headmistress pokes her head in the classroom and just about has a heart attack, my friend is informed that it's against government education policy blah blah blah, so regardless of the fcat that this sysytem worked for 200 years she has to go back to communal tables, and has a disciplinary hearing next week

What a socialist regime! Why can she not change her desks around? I have the option to have rows, community set-up, or anything I want in my classroom here. She should not be disciplined, but the admin for not stopping in to help keep the little darlings under control.

I feel like changing the seats in my classroom after school! Something real silly too!

This seems very 'short sighted' of the Head. At least let the teacher try this method...I despair !

You know what really embarresses them, NV? Lunch detention, and walk them down to the cafe to get their food, in front of their friends, while they are silent, and yak it up so everyone notices them............................:wah:
