Relatives of a three year old boy who survived two weeks in a flat with his dead mother are clamouring to give him a home. Three year old Micheal Mcgarrity is still recovering reported todays sun newspaper. He was found with the body of his mum Ann - Marie who was 33 ,on saturday after surviving on yogart,crisps and fruit juice. It emerged that his mother had lost contact with her family and was estranged from the childs father - she was asthmatic and had an attack and died and the child was left alone with her body for two weeks. Authorities were only alerted after the child remained absent from school . - that poor baby this is so sad - it also emerged that the mother was infact a junkie - BITCH !!

How awful! I will take that baby!! As everyone in the FG should know by now, my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year now. These kinds of stories make me SICK! Where is the child now? IN foster care? Are any relatives notifying police after this story went public?

This happend near to where I stay, its really sad , I just hope the wee man finds a loving home.

It does'nt mention in the article that she was a "junkie" in fact by all accounts she looked after her child pretty well.



The 51-year-old from Ratho Station said there seemed to have been "plenty of food" in the flat like fresh fruit, yoghurts, cheese, crisps, and cartons of Ribena and apple juice.

She added: "Michael was Anne-Marie's only child and she did the things mums do - she took him to the playgroup and read to him. She did not deserve this to happen, and I can't bring myself to go back to her flat at the moment."

Todays newspaper reports she was a junkie.

I just found it. I read that she was recovering but was on a methadone prescription and the school, the rehab clinic she attended and the concierge are all being investigated for not checking up on her soon enough.

Boy was missing out of school for 2 weeks with no notification from teachers until then.

Neighbor went to door and knocked and alerted concierge after just a couple of days. Rehab clinic didnt even check on her (they are supposed to check in apparently) when she didnt show up or have her presrciptions filled.

This is just an awful tragedy!

but so predictable

we arrested a female for shoplifting. she went to jail. for two weeks she never told anyone she had left a 19-month-old at home alone. she did not tell us, did not tell jail personnel, she did not call a friend or relative. that baby was finally found by the father who broke down the apt. door. the child had survived on dried macaroni. how could that PIG sit there in that jail without a thought for that baby??? it made headlines here, and i am happy to say she is in the state prison, i hope other inmates are kicking the snot out of her. sorry to sidetrack, but this really reminded me of that baby. it is amazing they survived!

My ex-stepson came to live with us at 4 years old - he weighed 33 pounds. His mother was a crack addict and used to leave him alone. When he came to live in my house I took him to my pediatrician - CHILD NEGLECT was the diagnosis. He had no baby teeth left. We got ALL his baby teeth root canaled (sp) and capped. He had a systemic blood born infection from his teeth. The doc told me he would be laid back for a week------4 hours later he was up riding his trike and asking for food - LOTS of food. I called the doc and said WTF - he said, in amazement, this kid was in so much pain he thought it was normal and never complained. The pain from the surgery - and it was in hospital surgery - fully unawake - was nothing compared to how good he felt having his teeth fixed. There are so many kinds of child abuse... Ok - I'll get off my rail now.
