DES MOINES, Iowa -- Police have located the car that was described in an Amber Alert issued Friday morning.
A green 1998 Toyota Corolla was found abandoned in northwest Van Buren County. The Ottumwa Police Department has requested the assistance of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation in the case.
An Amber Alert was issued for a 9-year-old Gloria Bonilla Lopez, of Ottumwa. She remains missing.
Lopez was last seen wearing light blue pants, blue shirt and pink shoes. She has shoulder-length black hair, brown eyes and is 5 feet tall.
She was last seen between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. at Ottumwa Elementary School. Authorities said Lopez was taken by 29-year-old Brendan Bhanvan Stanley.
In July 23, 2004, Stanley was charged with criminal aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm in New Mexico, according to police records.
Authorities said they believe Stanley could be headed to New Mexico.
