I was only 8 in 1960. I remember having to wear a dress or skirt to school. Got to wear long pants under it when I walked to school on cold days. Had to take the pants off in the coat room when I got here.

Drive in movies.

Having your meal delivered to you on a tray that hung on your window.

25cent Sat. afternoon movies with my box of Mild Duds.

Soda that actually came in a refundable glass bottle.

three inch deep shag rugs.

double dip icecream cones for a nickle.

Those were the days for sure.

Sunshine;1187452 wrote: You met the Beatles? How lucky are you. I would have loved to meet up with them.Yep and alot of celebs back in the 60s.As far back as I can remember I loved to sing and was so into show business lol.In those days there were 2 radio programmes I used to go to every week to watch being recorded.....one was called The Talent Spot and the other one was Easy Beat....The Talent Spot one was first where I met The Beatles....only 4 of us were waiting for them to come out:yh_rotfl..Love me Do had just been recorded and this little girl at the time had a crush on Paul when she saw him:wah:...we had quite a chat .....the second time was when the LP Please Please Me came out and they were on Easy Beat....Paul remembered me and came over and signed their LP....which I still have and as it was an early signature it is worth a nice few bob as they stopped signing after that an it all went through their fan club.Gawd I think back....remember Bobby Rydell....Brian Hyland.....Bobby Vee from over the pond....I had all their autographs fgs and the up and coming 60s groups at the time.....oh boy if only I knew back then what I know now.......

I seem to remember going to Wembley for the first match of the 66 World Cup, which was England v Uruguay, can't remember the score but the Queen was there....

Remember The Kinks at the Basildon, Mecca at the time they had just released 'You Really Got Me' and now and again they would play the intro and the crowd would surge forward, Ray Davies made the mistake of leaning too far forward off the stage and he was grabbed and dragged into a screaming mass of girls. He mentioned this some years later in an interview and said his back was still bad....

One of the best nights was at the Chelmsford Corn Exchange when they had three groups, Zoot Money and the Big Roll Band, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band and the John Knights Chessmen....

Yeah,

I am kinda curious why it got drug out of the archives.

But what the heck.

The thing I remember most of the sixties is the space program.

Got to watch all the Mercury and Gemini launches and several of the Apollo shots.

And I don't mean on TV

For sure, it was interesting. But when you think that Vietnam was a catalyst, it becomes less awesome-----from one who knows.

The music though..........magnificent.
