Arnold, I think that's just super!! I'd be grinnin' too, if my kid wanted to go to law school. Does she know the type of law she wants to try?



Seems to me that young people don't place a lot of value on education till later in life when they realize the doors that will open to them with better schooling. I know my son is just itching to get out of high school, and not really thrilled about college, (which is not an option for him, but a requirement). He'll appreciate it later, just like so many other things.

My daughter has just told me she has just decided to enroll in law school.

She has never been particularly academic, so her announcement has made me very proud. She works for local authority housing department at the moment, so has obviously been thinking about some life-changing issues.

Any advice from you well learned folk would be much appreciated. I dont know too much at the moment, cos she's just told me.

What I want to know is , why are we not interested in education untill later in life and not when we were at school (me and her both) :-5

I think most of It Is,while being a teen no one really has the perception of what responsibility means.Then you realize that the only way your going to make more than just peanuts thrown at you Is to have an education,to tell people like how you were,what to do.

Yep I think K is right there. And right now am going through similar with my daughter and her dad DID push her too hard. I think the maturity level of a teen is about having fun, them boom suddenly they realize they need to have skills and then they go back to school hehehehe I hope that is it hehehehehe

On the question you posed about youngsters and education.....who knows.... Some kids know EXACTLY what they want to do with their lives but the majority haven't got a clue.....then all of a sudden the blinkers come off and they see the wider picture.

I know loads of people that have studied to be nurses, teachers etc in their thirties while their kids are growing up. They left school with NO qualifications and have changed their lives.....thank goodness that there are SO many opportunities in adulthood.

A quick observation...My step grand daughter is very bright. When she went to senior school she made different friends and changed from a lovely clever girl to a monster. A couple of months ago this so called friend tried to beat her up....she was terrified. Anyway...she has changed back to the lovely girl she was before...is studying hard and planning to go to college....it was all down to peer pressure....they called her a 'boffin' and she didn't want to be different. A happy ending for us, but not always for others.

Thats great news I´m sure she´ll do well and you have every right to be proud of her.
