I've just stumbled onto this place and thought I'd join. I'm Svenskanurse, living and working in central Florida the past 22 years, but still plotting my escape someday to a cooler climate. I miss the midwest, my old farm life and long for the rustle of cornstalks in the breeze, the crisp air and NO hurricanes. Hopefully I'll meet some fun and interesting people?

I'd love to come to England but I've heard that it's even more expensive for a tourist--even more expensive than visiting NYC. Is that true? I was in the UK back when I was first married and I loved it. I did long for wide open spaces a bit when we were visiting in London, houses houses everywhere and little postage stamp gardens. But then that would cut down on the time I spend mowing grass every weekend on my trusty John Deere.

Miss England out it's full of foreigners anyway. As to cost it depends where you decide to stay.

SvenskaNurseI suppose it depends whereabout in England you go, if you go to the Cities London etc then they are geared up for the tourists.

But we have some beautiful countryside , and you are right about the gardens being like postage stamps, i dont even have a postage stamp!

Oh and if u are after wide countryside and a move to England, then I don't recommend moving to where I live, as we have very little countryside around here.



There are plenty of other lovely wide-open places around England though so I'm sure you will find somewhere u like if u decide to visit.

Welcome Sven I´m sure you´ll love being in the garden......as for moving to England I lived in Cheshire for a while it has some lovely countryside but the Lake district will always be my favourite. :-6
