I just heard that song "Bridge over Troubled Waters" and if there was ever a song that got me CLOSE to teary, that would be it.
So, what song yanks at your heart strings? Or anything, for that matter. Song, movie, commercial....anything?
Oh yeah, "Amazing Grace", especially when played on bagpipes, will give me some serious shivers.

Oh yes, just the thought of Josh Groban pulls at my heart-strings! Saw him a few months ago...all I can say is "wow". My favorite: You Lift Me Up.
Mmmmm.

Oh, I forgot about that one!! (Amazing Grace, bagpipe version). Yes, that is just beautiful! It makes me feel like flying...like, I wish I could fly...not in a plane y'know, but just lift off and FLY! Oh well.
Funny thing, I'm afraid of heights. Go figure.

TAPS
Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.
Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

Celine Dion's older stuff. I saw her in a "We are the World" type of video for British troops in the Gulf War. I think her part was 3 lyrics and one very long note. Cried like a baby. The situation has a lot to do with whether I'm moved or not.
OO! OO! Butterfly Kisses. That one does it every time. I teared up just posting this.
Bob Carlisle - Butterfly Kisses Lyrics
There's two things I know for sure:
She was sent here from heaven and she's
daddy's little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes and
I thank god for all the joy in my life
Oh, but most of all
For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer;
sticking little white flowers all up in her
hair; "Walk beside the pony, Daddy, it's my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny, Daddy, but I sure tried."
In all that I've done wrong I know I must
have done something right to deserve a hug
every morning and butterfly kisses at night.
Sweet 16 today
She's looking like her mama a little more everyday
One part woman, the other part girl.
To perfume and make-up from ribbons and curls
Trying her wings out in a great big world.
But I remember
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer; sticking
little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you, Daddy, But if you
don't mind I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time."
With all that I've done wrong I must have done
something right to deserve her love every morning
and butterfly kisses at night.
All the precious time
Like the wind, the years go by.
Precious butterfly.
Spread your wings and fly.
She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride-room just staring at her.
She asked me what I'm thinking and I said "I'm not
sure-I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
She leaned over;
gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there,
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk my down the aisle, Daddy-it's just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!"
Oh, with all that I've done wrong I must have
done something right.
To deserve your love every morning and butterfly
kisses-I couldn't ask God for more, man this is what love is.
I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses.

Not trying to sound macho or anything, but I rarely cry. The only thing that really brings a tear to my eye is when I yawn or sneeze.

When someone sings this well...it gets me EVERY TIME!
Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
oh and this one too...
Wynonna...She is His Only Need
Billy was a small town loner
Who never did dream
Of ever leaving southern arizona
Or ever hearing wedding bells ring
He never had a lot of luck with the ladies
But he sure had a lot of good working skills
Never cared about climbing any ladder
He knew the way in a small cafe, found the will
He met miss bonnie
And a little bit of her was a little too much
A few movies and a few months latter
The feeling got strong enough
They didn’t own a car
So it must have been love
That drove him uptown for a diamond
That’s when he started goin?
(chorus)
Over the line
Working overtime
To give her things just to hear her say she don’t deserve them
But he loves her and he just kept going overboard
Over the limit to afford to give her things he knew she wanted
‘cause without her where would he be?
See, it’s not for him
She is his only need
Ring on her finger and one on the ladder
A new promotion every now and then
Bonnie worked until she couldn’t tie her apron
Then stayed at home and had the first of two children
And my, how the time did fly
The babies grew up and moved away
Left ’em sitting on the front porch rocking
And billy watching bonnie’s hair turn gray
And ev’ry once in a while you could see him get up
And he’d head downtown
‘cause he heard about something she wanted
And it just had to be found
Didn’t matter how simple or how much
It was love
And, boy, ain’t that love just something
When it’s strong enough to keep a man goin? p> (repeat chorus)
Over the line
Working overtime
She is his only need
His only need
Overboard
Over the limit
Just for her
She is his only need
His only need

Standing at a home high school football game, the evening is starry and crisp, the band starts up the U.S. national athem and I look at the American flag fluttering in a breeze. I'm a goner. The tears start rolling down my cheeks like I just lost my best friend.

Me too big time. When President Reagan died I sat in front of the tv for days waiting for them to play it over and over.
At a football game after the National Anthem then fighter jets fly over (cry me a river)
Christmas time in general I get very sentimental (youll see)

Christmas music when sung by a talented choir. Ours sometimes performs this song "Mary Did You Know" which is arranged by Michael W. Smith and it's amazing. Also the Hallaleujah chorus.

Here in my old age of 62, it can be "Amazing Grace" sung in church. Actually, images of the repentant sea captain transporting the hundreds of chained African slaves below the decks while the great storm threatned to sink the ship.
How wretched and ashamed the captain must have felt in transporting those poor people!
Another sniffler is playing my late Mom's RCA Victrola with it's scratchy Fox trot tangos. If i shut my eyes i can see Mom and Dad in their youth dancing, and singing and drinking their little Gallo wine!
And of course watching human beings everywhere suffer some kind of horrific disaster! How can we not feel for our family?
