Her son was killed in action in 2004, not this past April.

What Bush said was :"She doesn't represent the view of a lot of the families I have met with." http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercuryn ... 448528.htm

I'm sure she doesn't. So, what is the point you are trying to make kmhowe72?

The words 'fires back' isn't quite correct...he was calmly answering questions outside the ranch that were posed to him by some reporters. Although I guess it makes for a good headline because it's provoking in a negative way, all he did was explain his view.

Interestingly, her son re-enlisted for a second tour in Iraq. Obviously HE believed in what he was doing. So to me, it seems a bit disrespectful to protest against not only what your son believed in, but what he died for.

If she loses her argument, the war continues, and Iraq will eventually become a democratic country. That will make her son's death meaningful and honorable.

If she wins her argument, and the war is terminated, causing Iraq to drift back to religious dictatorship.... then her son died for nothing.

Why would she want that? It seems hypocritical to me.

Isn't it strange she wouldn't believe her own son, who was actually there, saw things first hand.

Either way, Bush wasn't 'firing back'. He merely state he and others do not agree with her point of view. One of them obviously was her son.

That her son believed in what they were doing and why, and that it turned out to be lies.

That argument could have validity accept that by the time Casey had re-enlisted, the "Bush lied, people died" chants were in full force. Bush was already getting hammered for not finding WMDs and the military was struggling with the terrorism and yet he still re-enlisted. I personally think her son is a hero and not a dupe.

That wasn't my insinuation. I was pointing out the headline phrase was being used to provoke. The headline just wouldn't have caught anyone's eye if they didn't make it appear that the President wasn't attacking this woman.

As for her grief and her thinking, yes, I think she should be in counseling and not with the president. Unfortunately, she's so off the deep end many of her family are abandoning her. The imminent death of her mother, I'm quite sure, is going to drive her even futher into the abyss.

Shes just another tired Hippie trying to relive her youth. Activism isn't cool nowadays. All the kids are into indifference these days. As long as there is no draft, the war doesn't bother them. They don't care about genocide or recycling. "People suck and the environment got grass stains on my Jordans!" "Screw everyone that isn't me!"
