Joseph Ratzinger came from the 'Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. He was the Church's 'Dr No', its doctrinal watchdog, or if you prefer, its doctrinal enforcer ''Inquisition''. This means he was admired by those who want the Church to maintain its teachings in the face of modern Western norms. His main task is now to unite the Churches who have left Rome before and after the Reformation, a tall order given the very real theological differences that exist between the Churches.Inproving relations might be best in the long run.

We will have to wait until the autumn (Fall) after Rome wakes from its summer slumber.

You are correct, we will have to wait and see but one word comes to my mind "fascism".

He wants to bring the churches closer together but on his terms only. It "ain't" gonna happen that way.
