"We fry things, that's what we do. It's like banning the wok in China or outlawing the pizza oven in Italy."
Bake Off's Mary Berry criticised by MasterChef judge over fryers - BBC News
Rubbish, Mr Wallace. All I hear in your intervention is someone trying to get his name in the papers at the expense of the nation's health.
I wouldn't dream of having a deep fat fryer in my kitchen. If I want chips I'll go to the professional in town and eat his chips in the street the way God intended them to be eaten.

I have to admit i do own two fryers.....small one for chips large one for fish. Not used often but ....town .... is a very long way away.
I also have a pizza oven for exactly the same reason. Thats only used very rarely. But i also have a wok.....that permanently sits on the stove. I use that all the time.
I havent had take away or fast food in years.

No matter what you do, you can't do chips as good as in the chip shop - a cultural delicacy that Americans are totally unfamiliar with.

Them there are frozen re-constituted chips and not at all like the ones we consume from the chippy.

Your chip has to be made out of your natural potato to which nothing but a sharp knife has ever been applied.

There is nothing wrong with a decent chip, shop bought or home made. My chips are famous.
The only thing against chips is the regular addition to a well balanced diet.

Our local greasy spoon cuts the potatoes fresh, and fries them up perfect. I will have to get a picture next time we are there for dinner.
