Creepy stuff on gun violence

This blog showed up at the bottom of a page I was reading. Totally unrelated to the story I was reading, BTW. I think this writer is creepy.

Blacks are 13% of US population 37.6% of prisoners and 71% of shooters in Chicago | Zero Hedge

Then I went looking for stats and found this page about a place less than 2 hours from me. It is even creepier, IMO.

Doesn't that area have some of the toughest gun laws in the country?

I don't think it is folks with registered weapons that is the issue.

Agreed, so the laws aren't working.

The stats look odd to me.

The first link shows about two hundred homicides in Chicago in 2015 whereas the second shows about five hundred - that sort of a difference suggests selective reporting somewhere.

Also, the first link gives an average of four deaths per shooting which sounds unreasonable - either that or so many deaths are unsolved to the extent that they don't even know the race of the shooter which again is unreasonable and smacks of selective reporting.

I couldn't find the 200 homicides in the first link. Really doesn't matter as it was published in June of 2015, halfway through the year.

The FBIreports 500 homicides.

Here you can see where and how many multiple shootings occurred.

The two hundred comes from totalling the number of victims in :-

Race of Victim/Assailant 2015 Chicago

Race Victim Assailant

Black 154 35

Hispanic 37 8

White/Other 10 5

Police - 1

As of 6/19/15

And I agree, I missed the as of date (it was in the small print).

Your chart does show that a large majority of the homicides were single killings so why a four to one ratio of victims to assailants?

I wonder if Trump has considered building a fence around Illinois?

Most likely nearly all murders are a result of gang wars over drugs. Pretty much same in many major inner cities with lots of violence involving guns.

Gangs shouldn't be allowed. Period. Bust 'em up; if the member is not here legally, DEPORT.

They cause misery in the lives of their neighbors.

That is pretty much meaningless.

Comparing different countries with different laws and culture is apples and oranges.

The State of Kansas has 105 counties and the laws have been pretty much uniform. As of last year, they all are now uniform with no disruption of crime rates. What I am getting at is much west of the major cities there really isn't isn't much in the way of gun crime.

At least not enough to report.

What ???

I mean pardon ???

America is incomparable with elsewhere ?

I said "How about accidents"? meaning if a country is awash with firearms there is a higher probability of accidents, scroll down.

If a nation has no cars there will be no car accidents.

Comparing a small country to one the size of the US doesn't make sense. No different than comparisons between Kansas counties with uniform gun laws.
