He brightened whatever film part he played. He had a remarkable presence at the bridge table too. I'm sorry to see he became so unwell, that shouldn't happen to anyone.

Dr. Zhivago, what a dream he was. It is sad to see him gone.

Unlike so many of the current 'greats' whatever role he was in he became that character - not just Omar Sharif reading the lines of the script for that character. THAT is the sign of a true actor.

What is happening to all the old stars - the ones that had to rely on their acting skills instead of being able to rely on studio special effects to divert the attention of the viewer.

Rest in peace, Omar Sharif. You made a lot of people happy with your wonderful acting ability - for whatever film you acted in, you were the character that you portrayed. This is goodbye to yet another great actor !

Probably one of the greatest bridge players in the world, and I was guessing that that would not be mentioned in the obit, but it was!

Which reminds me of the old saying:

"Life is like a deck of cards.

When you're in love it's hearts,

When you're engaged it's diamonds,

When you're married it's clubs,

When you die it's spades."
