It's not nice to mess with Mother's waffle in the morning.

Waffle chaos: 30 people kicked out of hotel for fighting over a waffle maker | Road Warrior Voices

I've stayed in a lot of these hotels that offer "free Continental Breakfast" which usually consists of some weak coffee, assorted cereals, assorted danishes, and a Self-service waffle maker.

I make a point of sticking to the Raisin Bran, and coffee, and avoiding the Waffle maker.

This past Sunday, as you were basking in the barbecued glory of Memorial Day weekend, one of the year’s best headlines was brewing in western Michigan...

I don't get out much but I remember the first time trying one of those things. Lucky I was a lady showed me how to do it right.

Next time I stuck with toasted bagels/cream cheese. Yogurt and whatever else I could stuff in my belly. It cost no more and the Federal Government paid of it.

Tried the waffle maker in NY on my visit, the second morning after careful watching the previous day.

The cloying sweetness and after taste kept with me long after finishing the single one I had. Think it was vanilla in the recipe, but it was an unnecessary addition......the maple syrup should have been enough

I wouldn't have the foggiest idea how to used a waffle maker. I have enough trouble with a Toasted Sandwich Maker - that's why mine's been in the cupboard, practically since I got it. I just use the grill instead.

The process is easy enough. The problem is that it takes about 2 minutes from start to finish for each one. And when a lot of half-awake, caffeine-deprived, guests with reduced glucose levels are queued up to have a Waffle, things can get ugly very quickly. I was present at one La Quinta, where the attendant was nearly reduced to a quivering mass of tears, when she managed to allow the batter to run out in the middle of the breakfast rush.

Those people were merciless. Had they been armed, I am certain there would have been a massacre to rival 1929 St Valentine's day.
