A sad day, I'm sure he would want all of us to "Live long and prosper".

Thanks for the memories.

It's hard to imagine The Original Series without Leonard Nimoy's dedicated acting. He played stacks of other parts during his professional career, his IMDB list is a catalog of US TV's classic programs, but Mr Spock is an achievement on a completely different level. I do hope he enjoyed it.

I always liked Leonard Nimoy's Mr. Spock. He was a very good actor and gave generations of young (and old) people so much pleasure for all those years. R.I.P. Spock. You will be missed.

R.I.P. Mr. Spock, the talented Mr. Nimoy

Live long and prosper (from the Vulcan “Dif-tor heh smusma) made it into our vocabulary forever.

I'm actually crying, I will always remember the Good he has accomplished for Humanity by playing this character with such Grace.

Job well done, Leonard.

That's the poster, TD, that's been hanging on my walls (currently on my inside front door), since the nineties. Speaking with my son yesterday, I said "Spock's been part of my life since I was a teenager" and he replied "Spock's been part of my life my Whole Life!"

My hero. Not just his character, a scientist, philosopher, and adventurer, but the man himself. A man who, after a rich, diverse lifetimes-worth of experience, found himself defined by a role he never expected. He wrote, "I am not Spock," rebelling against his destiny, then "I am Spock," accepting it. You and me brother...."I am Mr. Ives."

And I find life, "Fascinating."

They don't go, but they still get the publicity for not going.

The Westboro Baptist Church was forced to cancel its plans to protest at Leonard Nimoy's funeral at the weekend when no-one would tell them where it was.

Westboro Baptist Church couldn't picket Leonard Nimoy's funeral because they didn't know where it was

Scotty beamed it over to Calvary Baptist Church in Nebraska at the last minute.

You're comparing The Stone Age On A Shoestring (W.Shatner, prop.) with The Royal Shakespeare Company.

The upside of the original series is that nobody, ever, anywhere, acted like that before or since.

I find it absolutely incredulous that any church should make it a policy to protest at anyone's funeral. So much for the Christian tenet of Love. More demonstrations of Religious Hypocrisy.

They are not an established church. Their leader, who recently died, started his 'congregation' amongst his own family. It's a cult.

Goes way beyond that.

You remember these a**h*les.

They were the ones with their antics who went to funeral services of our fallen soldiers.

Some cults ended up as leading religions then. All Hail World Westboroism, perhaps.

At least there are only 2 of them. What with the number of signs they must have been expecting 6 more! :wah: But what is with this "The Jews Killed Jesus"? They can't be very good Christians if they are so ignorant, but I guess Hitler considered himself a Christian too, huh?

It's a centuries-old reference to the mob calling for the release of Barabbas. To quote from Wikipedia, The story of Barabbas has special social significance because it has historically been used to lay the blame for the crucifixion of Jesus on the Jews, and to justify antisemitism.

I have had this debate more than once. My argument is:

1a). Who put Jesus to death?

1b). What responsibility did the Jewish community have for offering/initiating amnesty to the “blasphemous Jesus or to petition on his behalf?

2). What was the purpose (according to Christians) for Jesus' having walked the earth?

“The Jews Killing Jesus just doesn't figure. It's just more superstition to me.

The entire story is myth, adjusted by the early Christians who added clauses like "his blood be on our heads and those of our children" to the gospel. It's not a matter of history, it's a matter of what people did with it once it became the gospel truth. It has historically been used to lay the blame for the crucifixion of Jesus on the Jews, and to justify antisemitism. That's an accurate statement. The gospel is not an accurate statement. Speculating on what historical reality lies behind the myth seems a pretty fruitless activity, why would anyone bother making up yet more stories?

Oh ****! Next time that I have that debate I'll have to list THREE points to my argument.

Shall we move on to Father Christmas? If he was REALLY Dutch do you think he'd say “Ho, ho ho? I think he would have said “Ach! Ach! Ach!"

But yes, it is rather silly .... debating the life and times of Jesus and gleaning clues from the Bible. But we do it, don't we. What would Sherlock Holmes do in certain circumstances or Robin Hood or even Indiana Jones.
