Queen Elizabeth II would be evicted from Buckingham Palace and moved into a council house in plans to abolish the monarchy and build more social housing, as suggested by the Greens leader.

I thought she lived in a Council House already.

I suppose that technically she does. She does, after all pay rent on the place (by her own choice, I might add).

I wonder what she's expected to pay on the Bedroom Tax.

Its an empty gesture. It solves no problems at all. They have many friends who would be willing to "put them up" while they scour The Country Life for a suitable country mansion.

The Greens should be putting more effort in whats important. If there is to be an end to the Royal family - and I dont think we are there yet by a long way - it wont be as a result of lazy political soundbites

I'm a devout Royalist & sincerely believe that the country would be ruined without it. They have a thankless task, being born into an obligation to spend a lifetime in the Public eye 24/7 & to operate as diplomats & ambassadors, which they do brilliantly. The revenue brought into the country by them by way of the Tourist Trade is massive, and one of our primary resources.

I understand that Charles has even suggested that he might consider opening Buckingham Palace as an Ultra Premium Rate hotel for visiting dignitaries, which I believe could work excellently. No doubt there's not going to be any shortage of those willing to pay through the nose for the esteem of having spent a night in the luxury of what is probably the world's most famous residence.

I think cameron has a point, if they can justify including farage they can't justify not having the leader of party with a a membership larger than that of UKIP and the libdems. Br interesting to see if farage can shout down a woman.

I'll concede the snp might not have such a good case but they (the tories that is) avoided debating with them in the referendum debate possibly because salmond or sturgeon would wipe the floor with cameron.

Charles and Camilla don't have a Mother-in-law suite?

A friend of mine at work has lent me a book of QI facts, in which it points out that "Mother In Law" is an anagram of "Hitler Woman".

There are some astounding feats in the anagram world but none for which I have greater respect than this version of Jerusalem, containing all and only the letters of the original...

A JAM RULE ENDS

And did roast beef in olden time

Fill gentle England's inner need?

And was McDonalds just a name

Synonymous with US greed?

And how did burger and French fries

Cause fish 'n' chips to lose appeal?

And what unusual bugs nestle in

Among those dark Satanic meals?

Bring me my honest Yorkshire pud,

Bring me my meat and my two veg,

Bring carrot, turnip, fill me up;

Bring tons of home-made jam on bread.

I will not cease the endless fight,

No, nor will Hell flame-grill my plan,

Till wholesome fare is once again

Devoured in our ennobled land!

I am, simply, struck with awe.

Even the single-phoneme twist of "dark Satanic meals" is phenomenal.

As for Our Own Dear Queen, should honest law-abiding folk move into Buckingham Palace as council tenants I wonder how they'll heat rooms with 30-foot ceilings. I hope they qualify for the winter fuel allowance.

I'll take you word for it that that's all one massive anagram. Some people have FAR too much time on their hands.
