What terrible news. Edgar Froese, of Tangerine Dream, has gone. The Grand Architect of Krautrock has left the arena. Really. Seriously. I've been playing his music ever since Richard Branson placed the group where I could see it. My phone has some of his albums for when I'm travelling. A ten second clip from Tangram was at one stage my ringtone (replaced eventually by a more insistent phrase from the Yellow Magic Orchestra).
Thank you Mr Froese, you made the world a better place.

Good grief, we boomers are starting to drop like flies. Depressing.

An important part of my musical upbringing and his solo stuff was as important as his years in Tangerine Dream, arguably the most influential band, even today. Sad loss indeed.

Believe it or not, my son introduced me to Tangerine Dream many years ago, and needless to say I was hooked. Even my mother, who was a classical pianist, was very taken with their music and genuinely listened intently when my son played one of their albums. What wonderful music they played. My son has always had a preference for the early TD, and I think I agree with him. Such a sad loss. Such a talented man.
