I`ll never forget this even though it happened over 45 years ago and was totally stupid even then!

A pupil rushed into the classroom and said to the teacher, "Please, sir, there`s a riot in the dining hall"

The teacher quickly opened the cupboard and looking in it, said, "Where`s the cane?"

Another pupil, thinking that he meant, he was going to cane them all, and that it would therefore WEAR the cane down ,called out, "Yes, it does!"
