The polls closed 14 minutes ago. It's been an interesting day. A lot hangs on the result both in Scotland and in the rest of the country.

The BBC reports "Scotland rejected independence by 55% to 45%. The result became a mathematical certainty at 06:08, as the returning officer in Fife announced a comfortable No vote".
The world will progress in a different direction, then. I'd have liked a Yes vote though. It would have indicated a pride, north of the border, in being Scottish.

I suspect there are plenty who are proud of being Scottish, but there are also plenty who see the logic in staying with the union.
With that 45% No vote, the "powers that be" should take the message that there is certainly work to be done.

How many voters living in Scotland are English, Welsh, N. Irish? Could they have affected anything?

According to Bill Moyers,
The youngest voters, aged 16 and 17, voted for independence by a 71-29 margin, while 73 percent of those over 65 elected to stay.
So, in another twenty, it could be an entirely different result. Hope someone is paying attention.

Perhaps if there's a next time they'll allow the DevoMax option.
As for independence being an indication of pride, I don't see that of anything of the sort. I see myself as being proud to be a Sotonian (from Southampton), but that doesn't mean I think that Southampton should have independence (although we are independent from Hampshire, which surrounds us).

There are Scots all over the world, they are a migrant country. But my daughter's clients are English in the majority and I did ask when this all started why the ex-pats or overseas Scot workers couldn't vote and why the invading hoards of English could, gmc said it could get too complicated.
But it pretty much counteracts itself I would imagine.

During the coverage I am almost sure they said the young and old were more likely to vote No, now I don't know.
The intelligent amongst us might be able to glean something from these stats....HERE

Think of it this way - Most of the English speaking world are UK ex-pats to one degree or another. Once they renounce their country they also renounce their right to have any say in the way it's run.

That's the surprising thing, those in their fifties and older should be able to remember what happened the last time. Gordon brown destroyed occupational pension schemes when he was chancellor, created the fsa and de-regulated the banks I cannot understand how anyone can be,ieve he is anything but an idiot, not to mention beimg oart of a labour government that lied to parliament and took us in to iraq.
Cameron has labour in the ropes and he knows it.

Yes, I do have permission to share !!! From our man In Scotland
Media blames Scottish patriots for trouble in Glasgow! Here is the truth.
The Yes mobs had been in the Georges Sq for days intimidating and attacking Unionists as well as burning union flags. The flew Palestinian flags and Irish tri-colours and refused to leave after the vote and even when the victorious NO people announced a celebration in the Square.
For days the Yes camp in Glasgow , who are in reality a mixture of far left SSP/SWP and IRA supporters had been attacking decent Scottish people while the police looked on.
However , on Friday Scottish Loyalists turned up and they were not for being bullied or for standing by while our sacred flag was burned.
Violence is wrong but Unionist are not punch bags and will not be intimidated by the far left, it is that simple.
The message is simple , Do not bite off more than you can chew, the patriots won at the ballot and the patriots will defend their streets from anti British thugs. Now you know. Please SHARE.
