Michelle Obama will try to avoid politics during trip to China

Obama has no press interviews on her schedule but will hold “virtual events with PBS LearningMedia and Discovery Education that will allow students and teachers to follow along through blog posts, videos and photos.


This is the first trip to China for Obama, her mother and her daughters — who are on spring break — and is similar in design to a trip that the four of them took to South Africa and Botswana in 2011.

How much of tax payer money did George W. Bush spend on hanging out at his ranch, picking up brush, riding his bike & going fishing at a pond overstocked with fish compared to Michelle Obama? Did you complain about that?

Good point Bruv. It's not that TD is a miser it's just that he hates anything Obama.

Every First Lady has been criticized by the opposition for "squandering" public money.

As the article in my link points out, none of the recent First Ladies have actually been spendthrifts.

You should worry. we have a whole family of hangers on over here and we can't elect them out of office either.

While I dispute your numbers (?), that is irrelevant. Crime and punishment is a function of the state, as we see it.

I really didn't expect expect an invitation to the ranch for the minuscule effort I put forth to his election to the presidency.

Actually, I see any kind of China tour by the First lady as generating interest and goodwill in a country we desperately need on our side. I'll foot that bill any day.

On a side note: If a republican president is elected next (the Lord God forbid it!) will you still be so contrary, or will you sing his praises daily? (notice I didn't say "her" because that is impossible.)

To be quite frank, at best I see little if any benefit to girls :yh_rotfl learning to eat monkey brains with chop sticks moves us to an closer relations with China.

Urban legend aside, sharing the local cuisine is a noble diplomatic move. I saw plenty of odd stuff on the menu when in China, but never saw any part of a monkey. Most Chinese think themselves too civilized to nosh on monkey parts.

Actually never saw that movie.

I think Raiders of the Lost Ark was the only movie I saw of that series. Have to admit, I liked it. It just didn't interest me enough to see any sequals.
