A craze for pig-racing is sweeping Russia and famers are breeding long-legged racing pigs for competition. The biggest pig-racing track is at Moscow's Crocus-Expo pavillon but others are springing up.
Sergei Spirin, president of the newly formed Federation of Sport Pig Breeders, applies just half of the stick-and-carrot approach. He says, ''The swine don't have a feed before the training but get a carrot at the finish''.

These Russians have nothing on us Pennsylvanians!
We are the undisputed Pig Racing champions of the USA!
Our racing pigs are world famous - witness the speed and grace of thorobreds like Bacon Bunny, Red Rasher and, of course, Miss Piggy.
Pig racing season is in full swing now at tracks all across the State and local TV networks talk of little else.

I used to raise Durocs - never raced them myself, but the kids did on the back 40.
