Wouldn't it be great to have these costs but with your current income? We'd be sittin' pretty! Which item do you think has increased the most significantly over the last 40 years?

If we lived back then with our current salaries, think of the real estate we could snag! I'd buy some beach property in San Diego (Coronado, to be exact.)

I think gas has probably gone up the most...

Looking at the chart and converting It to £'s I would say for me, It would be Bacon.

I did a check on the cost of attending Harvard College in 2013 and found that tuition/room/board in 2013 is $ 56,407 . Holy cow!!

That's what I thought... it's more than the average median income in the US. It's an obscene amount of money.

1971 in the UK if you were poor you had university fees paid for and received a grant to live on. Nowadays tertiary education is out of reach except for the most wealthy.

I'd buy beachfront in Del Mar or a huge place uphill in Julian (love those apple pies).

Here's what it looked like: I had my own apartment in Manhattan, could take Taxi's whenever I wanted, go to Broadway shows, eat out in good restaurants, fly to Europe whenever I felt like it. Public college was Free. Oh, I could shop basically wherever I wanted to, buy what I wanted to..................all this on $10,000. a year.

Well... $10,000 you could still get an apartment in Manhattan... for a month or two... and a one way cab ride out of the city...
