Super Moon - June 23, 2013

Be sure to check out the sky tonight to see the moon at its perigee and if you're lucky it won't be rainy/overcast! I tried to take some photos of it last year but didn't have much success. The photos simply didn't come close to capturing its beauty but maybe someone here with better photography skills can get a worthwhile shot.

I got up early this morning to see it since one of the sites I queried said it would be at its fullest at 5:30 AM today. It was very bright but not noticeably bigger than usual. I hope to see it again tomorrow morning when I leave for work when it should be setting.

We had rain most of the night and until around 8:00 AM this morning then heavy clouds until about an hour ago so I'm hoping to get a good view tonight. Fingers crossed for luck!

Ha ha ... love the first photo, Oscar! Thanks for taking the second one and for a while I thought it was going to be the closest I'd come to seeing it because it clouded up again last night and moon visibility was a no-show. The clouds were starting to break up this morning and I was able to take this shot though the haze. Nothing spectacular but at least I got a glimpse!
Lady J, your photo looks great with the blue sky and your moon looks bright!
