Today was the day we finally turned the air conditioner on for the first time this spring/summer. Temperatures are in the mid 80s (F) and it's been raining on and off for the last few days so it's very humid, heavy and although not hot, it's uncomfortable. It's been a cooler & wetter than average spring and we hadn't needed it before.

Have you turned your AC on yet?

We should be basking in warm sunshine and giving our shorts an airing but the chances are I'll be putting another log on the fire before the weekend. Theres a chill in the air

It's been on for a day or two at a time. It's off now. Don't expect it to be on again till this weekend.

I've come close a few times. When I drive down the hill it has been sweltering, but up here in the trees it has been not so bad.

we have seen it up to mid eighties in the day, but fifties at night.

Windows open and no need for fans. So far.

Wish the whole summer could be like that.

My idea of perfect summer weather would be bright sunshine and temperatures no higher than 80F ! Temperatures in the 90s and low 100s though is what we usually get here with lots of humidity to make it more interesting.

I was raised in heat and love, love LOVE it! But, it was a dry

heat. (HAHA isn't that what they always say?)

I don't like summers where I am but unfortunately I'm

several years away from being able to move out of it.

We have the unrelenting fog to deal with, depressing.

One year btwn July1st and August 15th, we only had 11

sunny mornings! No air conditioning at all, because we

have less than 10 days a year where I'd use it. Pets and

husband would rather more, though.

This month we're in sort of transition, feels more like March,

gusty winds and all. This morning it was 42 degrees when I left

a little after 6 for my walk... wearing ear muffs and lightweight gloves!

Hmmm..."humidity." I have heard of this thing before. It is a very strange word that describes water hanging in the air. Must be weird. We don't ever have that here.

Ah. Yes. That's what we have. Ave 265 days a year of sunshine. 5500 feet altitude and cool breezes every day. We like to talk about the weather, but that's funny because we don't actually have any.

Now that is one bit of america I would really like to see. We have Scottish air conditioning - windaes or if you prefer the english word windows. You want to cool down you just open one of them.

Beautiful pic

you don't have a monsoon season?

where the air is thick - your dripping wet just standing in that air for a few minutes and then later that afternoon it rains - it pours and usually floods areas.

Something to look forward to in @ August... yuk...

Nope, Patsy. At over a mile high, and close to the continental divide, we have the mildest weather you can imagine. That graph is real, I pulled it from the weather channel. It's kind of amazing to me sometimes that we are so unknown in the U.S. and that there is not a flood of retirees moving here. The cost of living is cheap, the weather wonderful, and natural disasters nonexistent. Go figure...

We didn't even have air conditioning when I was growing up in San Diego since it only got unpleasantly hot during Santa Ana wind season. And yeah, we had morning fog pretty much year round but I actually like that kind of weather. I always get a little excited whenever I see it here which is few and far between.

It got pretty hot here a couple of weeks ago... up near 90... but then it rained like crazy and it's cooled back down to the 60s. 60s is perfect weather for me, I like it cool. It's a dry cool. :sneaky:

You must get snow at that altitude. I'm at almost 4500 feet and we get dumped on quite often.

Not here! It's still in the upper 80s/low 90s with extremely high humidity. The air pressure is very uncomfortable. I'll be so glad when it goes down to the 60 & 70 degree temperatures and the air becomes clean and crisp!

We had a bit of a reprieve for a about a month, but it's been becoming uncomfortable again lately.
