Next year I'll be moving out of Special Ed and into the Social Studies Dept. I'll be teaching World Geography.

Thanks. We teach it in 9th grade - 14 year olds - so it'll be a lot like herding cats, but it's fun. I hope to move to one of the history classes in a couple of years. The great thing about Geo is that we tie culture into history and physical geography. It makes the kids think in ways they haven't before.

No loss for the kids, really. We have an inclusion model so I'll still see the kids. I just won't be tracking individual grades as closely or doing the tons of paperwork. Sure, I'll lose the small stipend, but I figure I'm coming out ahead on this deal.
