I found this "old" news story to be so interesting and although it took place decades ago it's still not out of the realm of possibility that someone could come forward and help solve this mystery (s). I don't understand why the Kentucky lead wasn't researched further than it apparently was because the photo of the young man "Louis" is a dead ringer for the little boy Louis.
What do you think? Was it a grief stricken refusal to accept the children's deaths or was there something else afoot? It's a puzzler for sure!

What a strange story!
I find it difficult to believe, if the children were kidnapped, that none of them would have made contact in the decades afterwards but there are enough oddities in there to make you want to know more.
