ROFL! Yeah, it's got the best flying sequences ever filmed in it. the real stars of that show are the actual pilots, and if you want a hoot, check out their callsigns at the end credits!
But I have to tell you, I saw it with a group of pilots, (it came out when I was still flying) and we were laughing our butts off!
NOBODY! And I don't care if they are the General's son or whatever, would ever bust the pattern and go "low go" buzz over the traffic control tower without permission! EVER!
It's the air equivalent of running a busy intersection on a red light. It's just asking for a mid-air collision. Unfortunately, the stereotype of the "arrogant fighter jock" is somewhat true. Some of the guys are a little arrogant, and you can see why. It's not just because they are some of the highest GPA students, from the best schools, all with technical degrees (I have two Electrical Engineering degrees myself, 4.0 GPA, Dean's List, Crimson Scholar, Who's Who in Amercan Colleges) It's also that they have no time to doubt their abilities in an air emergency.
You'd better believe you are the greatest pilot on Earth when you have to make a life or death decision in microseconds..
Which reminds me...did I ever tell you about the time I had to eject? Or the time I got a birdstrike and had to do an emergency airstart in a spin? Twice? or how about the time I got a bad fuel imbalance and had to fly sideways all the way back from Kansas and max aerobrake to the end of the runway? Or the Iraqi student that I had that ejected himself on the ground?
Those were the days!

Yeah, very good. Tom Cruise? -r eally good actor and nice bloke to boot (second only in my estimation to the wonderful wonderful actor Tom Hanks)
