We may all regret this. I have no doubt this guy shot his girl friend. They were probably fighting and he lost his mind and shot the woman while she was hiding from him in the bathroom.

I read that he had to strap his legs on so he could go after her, I wonder why she hid in the bathroom instead of trying to get the hell out of the house.

It was probably kind of a routine thing for them. I heard that neighbors said they were always fighting.

Of course we're talking about premeditated murder, but in general South African courts have a very poor record in terms of crime against women.

For instance in about 90% of male on female rape the accused is found not guilty and in addition to this, a very large percentage of rape cases never even come before the courts.

Be that as it may ...

In the Oscar Pistorius case rumours abound here but we will have to wait until June 1.

What doesn't add up to me Is that the cricket bat was found covered In her blood.

He says he had to use the cricket bat to break down the bathroom door after he had fired four shots through the door.

If that's true then surely there would be no blood on the bat because It had only struck outside the bathroom/?

My theory Is, they fought, she locked herself In the bathroom, she wouldn't come out so he tried shooting the lock out the door and accicently killed her.

Then why was there a gap of about 10 minutes before 3 or 4 more shots were heard - perhaps he was busy trying to get his legs on quickly, then he could be seen to be carrying his girlfriend out of the house. I doubt he would be able to carry her when he hadn't got his prosthetic limbs on. Things could have happened as he has said, but also he could have known his girlfriend was in the bathroom hiding from his anger. He does admit that he shot his girlfriend, but he thought it was an intruder hiding in the bathroom. I doubt it was pre-meditated as has been suggested by charges. It is a known fact that South African police are very iffy, so I think judgements by outsiders that Oscar is guilty of deliberate and pre-meditated murder are very risky. We await the Hearing in June that could indicate a Trial date. Seems strange that heated rows could be heard from several hundred yards away from inside another house !

Not terribly long ago I had a chap knock on my front door trying to sell me Sky TV. He had a South African accent and I mentioned, jokingly, that he had come an awful long way to sell Sky TV ! He explained that he and his family had moved out of South Africa because of the terrible crimes and he would feel safer in the UK. Cold calling, like he was doing in England, would have been extremely dangerous in South Africa. Apparently he had been a police officer and had been shot several times over the period of him being a police officer, and he felt enough was enough and moved his family to safety - the final straw came when he had such bad injuries that he nearly died. I didn't sign up to Sky but I wished him all the best.

I don't doubt that Gill but It's funny how many are quick to complain they won't get a fair trial when they are In a SA dock.... until then they seem to have no qualms about living there or Honeymooning there.

After shooting 3 or 4 holes in her, there must have been a lot of blood all over the floor, so it is possible that as he managed to get the door open, he saw how bad she was, dropped the bat on the floor and picked her up to carry her out. Unless they find crush wounds on her head or body I wouldn't have thought there was any proof that the bat was used as a weapon even though it had her blood on it. The bat would no doubt have minute particles of her skin on it as well, so forensics would need to thoroughly check that bat. I just hope that the forensic department of the South African police do a minutely thorough test on everything. If they do I dare say they would be able to tell the story of how and what happened basically from start to finish of that terrible incident on Valentine's Day. Forensics is an incredible science.

That does not make sense. If he crushed her skull with the cricket bat then the prosecution have an open and shut case - they have no need for tactics in deciding what they can reveal, that one fact proves his guilt.
