Overrated songs.

Post by Mister E »

OK I thought I'd start a discussion about overrated songs. I think it'll be interesting. You can list as many songs or as few as you'd like. And if you want to give reasons why you think the song is overrated that's great. If not that's fine too. I've got so many I think I'll just post one or two at a time. I'll start things off.

My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. It's simply an overly sappy and overblown piece of garbage.

I've heard that song done by another artist without all the soaring violins and less breathy vocals and it was actually quite beautiful. Just sounded like a Celtic folk song. Celine Dion generally sucks but there was one song of hers that gave me goosebumps... just can't remember what it was now.

I don't know the name of it but it had the line"Tell me what you want, what you really really want". I hate that song.

Did the Spice Girls do it?

I don't even know how songs are 'rated", much less, "over-rated"

I have three radio stations set on my vehicles, and none of them pay any attention to "rated" songs.

And, I never pay much attention to things like the grammy, or Oscar awards.

Last time I watched the Oscars, the song that won the Oscar was "Life is too hard for a Pimp"

So, I guess I do know of one over-rated song.
The home of the soul is the Open Road.

He actually did some good stuff, but no one ever played those songs. A couple of his songs were rocking with soul singers doing backup vocals. Baker Street was my least favorite of his songs.

Please allow me to introduce myself

I'm a man of wealth and taste

I've been around for a long, long year

Stole many a man's soul and faith

I was 'round when Jesus Christ

Had his moment of doubt and pain

Made damn sure that Pilate

Washed his hands a’ sealed his fate

Pleased to meet you

Hope you guess my name

But what's puzzling you

Is the nature of my game

I stuck around St. Petersburg

When I saw it was a time for a change

Killed the Czar and his ministers

Anastasia screamed in vain

I rode a tank

Held a general's rank

When the Blitzkrieg raged

And the bodies stank

Pleased to meet you

Hope you guess my name, oh yeah

Ah, what's puzzling you

Is the nature of my game, ah yeah

I watched with glee

While your kings and queens

Fought for ten decades

For the god they made

I shouted out,

"Who killed the Kennedy's?"

When after all

It was you and me

Let me please introduce myself

I'm a man of wealth and taste

And I laid traps for troubadours

Who get killed before they reached Bombay

Pleased to meet you

Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah

But what's puzzling you

Is the nature of my game, ahhh yeah, get down, baby

(2:54) woo

(3:03) woooah

Pleased to meet you

Hope you guess my name, oh yeah

But what's confusing you

Is just the nature of my game mmm yeah

Just as every cop is a criminal

And all the sinners saints

As heads is tails

Just call me Lucifer

'Cause I'm in need of some restraint

So if you meet me

Have some courtesy

Have some sympathy, have some taste

Use all your well-learned politesse

Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mmm yeah

Pleased to meet you

Hope you guess my name, mmm yeah

But what's puzzling you

Is the nature of my game, mmm mean it, get down

I see & hear Debby sing that 20 times a day now---she is the spokesperson for Lifestyle Lift, the quick, no anethesia face lift folks.

Whenever I think of Debby, I remember when I was a little kid in the fifties & her dad, Pat notoriously said "I'd rather my children be dead than live under communism". Part of the Better Dead than Red crowd, dad was. I was horrified that any parent would say that. Innocent me.

Where are you getting that from? According to Wikipedia:

The procedure involves an incision made along the temple hairline and continuing down around the front of the ear or following the natural curves of the ear. The typical incision makes an S shape although the incision length and type can differ between surgeons and is individualized for each patient. The incision is made in front of and behind each ear. Once these cuts are made, the deeper muscle or SMAS tissue is pulled up and back (and possibly trimmed) and sutured into place. The excess skin is then trimmed off and the incision is closed. Liposuction may be used to reduce fat from under the chin. In addition, the muscle bands in the neck may be sutured together to lessen their appearance.

Oh, sorry. The way I read that was they'd just fold the skin back and glue it.

However surgical glue has been used for quite a few years and appears to be very safe. I don't understand your aversion to it.

Lifestyle advertises procedures during your lunch hour..?

pretty good deal - interest is peeked.

Once "they" get you thru their door - it will cost your thousands to exit.

Your procedure for the lunch period - your glued - knowing it's temporary they now have you hooked - you'll be back to get the procedure done correctly & permanent.

Lunch visit is just a temp. promo - see how good it could be...!

This CO, is just another plastic surgeon clinic.

Snooze

I didn't elaborate about the procedure since this thread is about songs /singers and not plastic surgery -

I need not be corrected

Thanks anyway.
