There are 700,000 physicians in the U.S.

Accidental deaths caused by US Physicians each year: 120,000

Accidental deaths per physician is .171

-Source: US DHHS.

Gun owners in the US: 80,000,000 (80 MILLION)

Number of accidental h=gun deaths per year, all age groups: 1,500

The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188

-Source: FBI

So......statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

Remember, guns don't kill people, doctors do.

Fact: Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has a doctor.

Please alert your friends to this travesty. Isn't just one death due to doctor incompetence too many? What about the children.

I do believe this is funny regardless of my political views on the matter of gun control / people control. We should all laugh. :)

Not sure how it "proves" that...or even addresses it. It does prove something to me though, haha!

It is stil interesting nonetheless. You seem to approach all posts with an open-mind.

Have a laugh every once in a while. Maybe learn a few things. Maybe see that other's have views, expressions, opinions, and well-educated thouyghts.

Makes life much easier. ;)

How does a doctor cause an "accidental" death?

Kind of off topic: Makes me cringe being in hospital this week. And I came home with my arm infected from a pneumonia vacicne, spent all afternoon at Patient First.

Jeez Chonsi, how could your arm get infected? Something's not right.

Yes, I got a pneumonia shot before they released me, and it is a really bad infection. Arm is swollen and hurts a whole bunch. So I wait and see if the antibiotics work, no music for a few days, I really can't move it without hurting. And I have my new violin coming tomorrow. :-1 I will just look at it and dream of getting better.....

A whole family wiped out in New Mexico, one of the children was a 2 year old. I wonder if he used an assault rifle, maybe he didn't. I guess we'll just have to get used to it.

Why? We didn't "get used" to drunk driving when it was killing us wholesale. We grew up, outlawed it, and moved on. You want statistics? Here's some from the CDC:

Getting drunk and driving a car were never an individual liberty specifically protected under the Bill of Rights.

I guess the passion for maintaining individual liberty is quickly stripped by safety or security for those susceptible to emotional effects. The Founders were very well versed in human nature, and it is clearly shown in nearly every major document and action. I trust them more than Michael Moore or the current infestation of socialist / hyper-liberals destroying the democrat party.

Shame to let emotions compromise individual liberties and the protection afforded by a Constitution from a potentially dangerous government.

It is very easy to feel educated when thinking with an emotional mob or propaganda machine.

shame.

Edit:

It would almost appear that as a society, we have completely given up in trying to curb this behavior and instead go after the weapon. This is where the intentions of those wanting control comes into play. Controlling the weapon does not change human nature or behavior.

If so, the argument about sexual oppression and the need to liberate the subject would be null.

We should never get used to acts of violence.

A family wiped out by a drunk driver, a patient killed by an incompetent doctor, a looney with a knife killing his mugging victim, an abusive lover taking out their partner with an iron, on and on and on.....why not try and create a more sound or moral society?

Seems that those talking about morals get immediately demonized as "forcing their views on others". Maybe those views should be listened to? In the name of tolerance, we have boxed ourselves into a "deviancy down" society.

Grow up flopstock. The irony is funny, not the deaths.

Apparently you are repulsed by all sorts of late night tv (letterman, kimmel, maher etc.) Their level of satire would have you in full cardiac arrest.

Relax. Have some wine.

What's funnier is that when someone posts a chain email and says it is funny, folks insist on taking the post as a serious allegation of fact.:wah:

If the stats are true it might conceivably be ironic. Irony is not necessarily funny.
