Have any of you ever seen these? I don't think I have or if I did it simply didn't register at the time. We get a few good snows during some winters but they aren't usually followed by strong winds. Maybe someday!

I saw that in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming, some years back. looked like someone had been rolling up snow to make a snowman, and had been interrupted, and never finished.

Great snowmen (wet spot and all!) & I know that had to be fun making them! It looks like you had a substantial snowfall & maybe it was still coming down in the photo? The only thing more fun than getting cold & wet making snowmen is going home and getting warm & dry again!

We had heavy rain from Monday through Thursday evening ... it never let up! Then yesterday evening, the temperatures dropped steadily and around 5:00 PM it started turning to sleet then snow and by 10:00 PM when it ended we had about 3 to 4 inches ... I consider that just a warm-up and hope for more. Ha ha ... you should see some of the scowls I get for saying things like that. People seem to either like snow or hate it ... very few are neutral. I find it energizing and I love the feel in the air after a good snow.

Looks like the grass was still green when you got hit by snow. Green grass, which I won't see for another five months.

We in the British Southwest share with the Irish a curious belief that grass has no other color than green, snooze. The sole variable, as far as grass is concerned, is the rate at which it grows. We reach April and zoom, it hits six inches a month and those without a gardener start honing their scythes.

It's a barren wasteland here. The trees, the few that we have, are stunted and twisted like arthritic old women. The grass is usually patchy and mange-like. The inversion layer makes breathing difficult. It's hell on earth, I tell you. Hell. On. Earth.

Me Too!!!

It would have been a good winter if we had some sizable snow fall and a few days off...but this winter has been filled with wintery mix, high winds and up and down temps. My poor daffodils are almost in bloom and the temps here will be highs in the 40's (F) and lows in the 20's (F) for the next few days. My daffs have frost burn on them!!!

I know what you mean, Lady J! I planted some daffodil bulbs in some old jars about a month ago during the big freeze and put them in the kitchen window and on a counter top that gets sun most of the day. They started coming up fast and about 4 days ago I had one open, then another and several of them have buds not quite open yet. It's been fun to get a little head start on spring!
