I really should not play games - it is unbecoming.

The terms of the referendum for Scottish independence have been signed and they are, as expected, based on the politics of the parties involved rather than the possible wishes of the electorate.

I think that most Scots want to stay in the union with control over their own local affairs but the terms of the referendum prevent that. By forcing the issue into a yes / no choice believing that they won't take the final step I fear that David Cameron has pushed them too far and will split the country apart.

I think there will be a no vote. We love each other more than we think. More in common than would push us apart. Except for football.

I think gmc's view is that a simple yes/no will force a resounding yes, on the basis that most Scots want more say but not a total split.

We had a similar referendum over Quebec. It's a never ending issue with them. Problem is that they want to separate but want Canada to foot the bill. I voted "yes" let them separate when the vote was put. I'm not one to force anything on anyone. The majority voted "no." The other problem is that Quebec's separation would cause travel problems for those going across Canada. It would also save a lot of money for corporations forced to print both English and French on their product labels. I'm surprised corporate Canada hasn't managed to get a 'yes' vote secured yet.

Aside from political agendas, I just think that no one should be forced to belong to a group or place they don't like.
